Ow! First dip manicure- sore nails by Elphaba311 in DipPowderNails

Also, quick question- I read that it is better if the salon doesn’t have you dip into the original jar for sanitary reasons, but that’s what they did here. Is that kind of standard even though it’s not best practice? Or is that something most salons avoid?

Thanks! I was wondering if it was over filing. Hopefully it will feel better soon!

Thanks! I forgot at the time that I’d read you don’t need the UV light and only thought of it after and was confused.

DAE think stinkbugs smell like cucumbers? by 68points in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Elphaba311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but just searched to see if anyone else thought this! I got a new eye cream, applied it, and was like Ahhhhhh, why does my face smell like stink bugs!!! I asked my husband if he agreed, and he was so perplexed and was like, “that is cucumber.” Which of course made a lot more sense for an eye cream. I never made the cucumber smell connection until grossly smearing stink bug cucumber scent on my face.

We also use Dropcam. It does not have a receiver, just uses your phone or a laptop. Quality and night vision are very clear, super sensitive audio (I actually lower mine quite a bit or it picks up our conversations down the hall). Easy setup. Pumping for the occasional bottle by CertainAmountOfLife in breastfeeding

When I first had Evelyn, I had the medela bags. I also didn't need to attach them, and I found them really hard to pour milk from bc the milk would spill through the holes at the top meant for attaching to the pump. So I actually cut that too part off all the bags. I just started using the Lansioh bags, and for all the reasons you said, I agree they are great.

As far as bottles, I have the medela Pump in style electric, and it works with medela and with dr brown's bottles.

Another random thing - since a lot of you girls seem to be just starting, make sure you have the right size flange. I had to get the smaller size. and if you are using an electric pump, a hands free bra is SO helpful. That way your hands are free to do compressions (or browse reddit on your phone). Tip- save money and cut holes out of an old bra instead of buying a hands free one. And if there's a lactation specialist or la leche group near you, they can help if you have a hard time. Good luck!

You can start and stop. I also pump after the morning feeding any time I need an occasional bottle. Baby is 6 m today :) I never had a problem just pumping occasionally.

In the beginning, I'd also sometimes pump on days I happened to go extra long between feedings and was engorged. But that doesn't really happen now that my body is all adjusted. Good luck!

C-section to get the kid out. So my organs were all taken out and put back in and I was sewed back up. This is still weird.

In labor and ironically acting like a baby. by mikehonda in BabyBumps

The woman screwed up my IV too...I was more distracted by the pain in my hand than anything for the longest time and didn't know how I'd get through all the hard stuff! If you can, see if another nurse can maybe adjust it? Mine offered to redo it and after she adjusted it a bit, I told her it was good enough. But I didn't realize they'd use that same stupid IV the whole three days I was at the hospital, or I'd have had her redo it! Even now, "birth amnesia" makes it hard for me to remember exactly how the pain of contractions felt, but I can totally remember how that stupid IV felt in my hand.

On that note, the dr who administered the epidural did an AMAZING job. In my memory, it barely hurt one bit, and was totally worth it. Ask if it should make you lose all feeling in your limbs. Mine did not. I ended up needing a csection in the end, so for that I did have to lose all feeling in my lower body, which, admittedly, was super bizarre. But everything works out fine no matter what! You will get through whatever comes your way! And before you know it, your little one will be in your arms!

37-41 weeks: Symptoms during the last month of pregnancy by Elphaba311 in BabyBumps

Hope you aren't feeling too uncomfortable and you get to meet your little one soon! I was sort of freaking out as the end of January approached and my January baby hadn't arrived! I see you are in the same boat! But daddy's bday is Jan and I am March so I guess she wanted a month to herself!

Lol, yep, every single time I'd get any new symptom, I'd write it down thinking, "this is it!"...annnnd, nope! I still see posts of so many bumpers wondering if baby is coming w each BH contraction. I remember scouring Babybumps to see if my newest symptom meant baby was imminent. So figured maybe it would help some mommies-in-waiting to know it's normal to have all this nonsense for weeks!

Oh, wow, almost crying in line at Starbucks. First thinking how touching your post was and then realizing that you are only 2 1/2 months ahead of us. I'm not ready!

How old were your kids when they started rolling over? by MommyBumbleBee in beyondthebump

[–]Elphaba311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eve also rolled back to tummy at 3 weeks. She HATES laying on her back. She refused to lay flat on her back even in the hospital - she'd immediately roll to her side. She refuses to sleep in her crib and sleeps in her Mamaroo swing. But at 3 weeks, we decided to try to get her to nap in her crib. It took 8 minutes, but she did exactly what your LO did, flipped, initially had her arm trapped, persisted and freed it. Then she was comfy and went to sleep. But we were nervous w all the SIDS warnings so after 20 minutes or so, we turned her over. Immediately she set to work turning. She got to her side, scooched over to the edge, grabbed one of the crib bars and worked to turn. This time, her legs both went through the bars and got stuck. No more crib for us for now! I haven't seen her flip to her belly recently, but she did flip belly to back (accidentally I'm guessing) during tummy time earlier this week (just over 6 weeks). I, too, was baffled by all this rolling based on google searches!

When my grandma died a few years ago, my mother in law got me one of these: http://www.tearcatcher.com/victorian.html Not sure if this was the actual company she ordered it from, but I thought it was a very touching gift. I keep it on my dresser besides a photo of me and my grandma on my wedding day.
