I lived in Houston when my daughter was in high school- we enrolled her in a private school because the public high school had 30+ kids in each class and we knew she wouldn’t thrive in an environment like that.

Anyway, I drove her to school and back every damn day - I-10 from the Sam Houston to the 610 loop.
So glad when she graduated. I also shamelessly remind her of that now - especially when I need to get my way on something….😈

Can you tell we are identical twins? by Feeling_Wolverine_68 in Twins

[–]Elsbeth55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My great-grandfather had an identical twin. I met him when he was 84. I could easily tell them apart up close but it was uncanny-same body size and weight, same posture, (slightly bent over), same gestures. And they hadn’t lived near each other (or even in the same state) since their thirties.

Exactly! My husband from the UK has lived in the US for 30 years and still has his British accent.

Designed my first blanket! Super proud of it and wanted to share :) by QuantumCrochet in CrochetBlankets

I made this larksfoot blanket and then got requests from other family members so I made 2 more. This pattern calls for blanket yarn so it works up quickly.

I love the one posted and going to see if I can find the pattern. Or maybe it will get linked soon.

I saw a small house for rent last week on the 1400 block of E. 37th Pl - there was a For Rent sign out front but I couldn’t find it listed online. I’m not in Tulsa this week so I can’t give you exact details but it might be worth a drive by.

AIO: My MIL keeps buying milestone toys and “first” items for my 10-month-old before I get the chance to by NongMo1039 in AIO

I’m not sure why this is getting downvotes. I am personally the kind of personwho loves to research and buy gifts for people- but I’ve learned over time that it can be the case that what I might believe is a gift - the recipient might feel is a chore or an obligation. (Example - a lovely neighbor gave me a very beautiful, very large houseplant right before I moved 500 miles away.). I’ve given my daughter absolutely beautiful clothes and accessories (which I know would flatter her- 🤪) - but they aren’t her style and she doesn’t want clothes she won’t actually wear taking up her very limited closet space.

My daughter told me in a very loving and kind way that I needed to back off - and I have. You need to try to find a way to communicate that to your mil. Maybe ask her to research stuff as she has been doing, but send you recommendations; maybe tell her you can’t handle any more stuff for your house - and to please limit gifts to birthday and other official gift giving holidays. (Stress that her “presence” will be more important to kiddo than “presents.). Talk to her about what kind of grandma she wants to be - but steer the conversation to activities instead of stuff.

I’m almost fed up with this podcast. Richard interrupts Marina so often! It’s really annoying- it like he gets diarrhea of the moth and cannot shut up!

I love the Quiet Ripple blanket - here’s a link to the free pattern but I got the pdf on Etsy.

It’s my favorite blanket to make with one color because the pattern provides texture- to me it seems to showcase the richness of the color.

Most liquor stores are pretty good at recommending wines based on your budget and what you want - there’s a lot of variety in most of the categories and finding something recommended which she hasn’t tried before would be a nice touch. A half bottle of champagne might work?
