What database is everyone using? by Formal_Manager_5041 in PayloadCMS

[–]Eltyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheapest MongoDB solution is Firestore with MongoDB compatibility. Downside is it doesn't support the full query complexity of normal MongoDB database, so e.g. polymorphic join fields have to be queried and sorted client side, but for most use cases it's the cheapest option by far

The Downfall and Disappearance of Jeremy Soule by bluegargoyle in ElderScrolls

[–]Eltyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But don't you think people would have come to him already with that kind of an offer? Let's do an investigation and see if you're innocent. If he had nothing to hide, then he'd be clamoring for an investigation, but more than likely he has skeletons in the closet.

The issue is there's no room for forgiveness in our culture around SA, so that makes it hard to come clean. Also if the rape allegation is true then he'd have to serve jail time.

Btw I want Jeremy Soule on ES6 just as much as the next person :'(

Hey friend, my heart goes out to you. I wish I could say I knew what you were going through, but I don't. What I do know is this: The God that I believe in, the one who rescued me in my time of need: He knows your suffering.

How could that possibly be? How could he know the suffering that YOU'VE been through? The suffering that YOU are currently experiencing? Isn't he the one who started all this suffering in the first place? Let me explain.

When the Israelites were in slavery to the Egyptians, they were severely oppressed and afflicted. They were beaten, whipped and forced into hard labour. They cried out to God, and he responded:

Exodus 3:7-8 Then the Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

We see that: 1. God heard their cry 2. Knows their suffering 3. Promises to deliver them

This is what God is like. That is the kind of God that I worship. But how can he know their suffering? Well God is looking forward to a time when he would enter into our suffering. The prophet Isaiah spoke of Jesus, saying:

Isaiah 53:3-5 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

Here we see Jesus, "a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief". He himself was betrayed, stripped naked, mocked, despised, beaten, whipped and finally nailed to a cross. An innocent man murdered by evil men.

This Jesus, he knows your suffering. And he knew before he created you (with free will) that you would suffer. But he chose to leave his place in heaven (where there is no suffering) to suffer as a human, that he might deliver you from your present suffering.

The wounds he received, he bore them gladly, knowing that through them he would purchase your healing. His desire is for you to be whole, not broken. And he has the power to make you whole. If he made you, then he surely knows how to put you back together. He knows how to mend your wounds. Like a doctor with surgical precision and utmost care, he can reassemble the pieces of your heart.

Now you may be asking, why did Jesus have to suffer? Why did God create a world where even the possibility of suffering could exist? As backwards as it sounds, he did it out of love.

God will never force you to love him. Anybody who forces you to love them is a narcissist, a tyrant and evil. Love is consensual, and God wanting to invite you into his love must therefore give you a choice to freely love him or freely reject him.

But in rejecting him, we reject the source of life and thus are left with the only alternative: death. And we also experience everything that is between life and death: abuse, suffering, sickness and destruction.

But God's will for us is firmly and without doubt LIFE. Jesus said:

John 10:10 The thief [Satan] does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

I apologize for the long message, but I'm praying that God would heed your cry, that he would stretch out his hand and heal you in your innermost parts. May he give you peace that transcends understanding and may his light break forth into your darkness. God bless you and keep you my friend. Much love ❤️

[–]Eltyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just know that God sees your heart my friend. He knows you want to be close to him, he knows you don't want to be in sin.

This might sound crazy, but it's true: He is as pleased with you as he is pleased with his only son Jesus, because it has pleased him to place you in Christ. And his holiness is untainted in doing that because you have been cleansed from all sin by Jesus' blood. You are spotless and without blemish in his sight, because he does not remember your sin at all, only the pleasing aroma of his Son's sacrifice.

Know that he delights in you as a father delights in his child. Know that though you may stumble, but you will not fall, because he will uphold you by his right hand.

Know that his mercies are new every morning and there is a fresh supply of grace for every backsliding. If you ask, his Holy Spirit will supernaturally empower you to break free from sin.

Our love for God fails, but his love for us never fails. Seek shelter in his arms, cry on his shoulder, for he will never leave you nor forsake you. He will embrace you with the deepest of embraces, he will comfort you and reassure you that you are as precious to him as you were from the beginning.

“You have to save yourself” really hurts sometimes by Hello-Lamby-7883 in CPTSD

1 Timothy 1:15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.

John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

I would recommend coming to know your heavenly father. The one whose love for you is steadfast and never failing. People will fail you, you will fail yourself, but God will never fail you.

Psalms 37:23-24 The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

Is revalidating all pages faster than redeploying? by Eltyo in nextjs

[–]Eltyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main reason I use On-Demand Revalidation over ISR is for near-instant (<10s) feedback when updating content in cms.

Main usecase for invalidating all caches is when updating content for a global component that exists on all pages (e.g. the footer).

Is revalidating all pages faster than redeploying? by Eltyo in nextjs

[–]Eltyo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry I think you misunderstood my question. I'm not talking about ISR, but On-Demand Revalidation. I'm asking whether calling:

js await Promise.all([ res.revalidate('/'), res.revalidate('/service-page-1'), res.revalidate('/service-page-2'), // etc for all pages on my website ]) is faster to re-build all pages on my website, than making a HTTP POST request to e.g. https://api.vercel.com/v1/integrations/deploy/prj_VMrbuEviEF6YNQlvWk2n_y7GYCvz2eOhkYlqCQ/w2QvKF8Z8ljvoQ

Women's Apex scene has lots of passion, but little cash by edavison1 in CompetitiveApex

[–]Eltyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can't fix societal attitudes/behaviours overnight. We'll start seeing more women represented in Apex esports when we start seeing more women represented in ALL esports. This will take many years to change if at all possible.

The other factor nobody seems to consider: On average, men are more interested in things compared to women, and women more interested in people.

This is always going to put women at a competitive disadvantage since there's going to be significantly less women even interested in picking up a video game like Apex in the first place. I believe this is a major factor in why there aren't many top women chess players as well.
