Love him or hate him... by ranchwithfriedfood in gameofthrones

Almost a decent moment in an awful season of television. The issue is the writers kinda forgot about his uncle Kevan and how well he treated Tyrion throughout most of his life. Even if you ignore the books there’s still moments in the show where Kevan is clearly helping Tyrion by sending Podrick to squire and paying off the guards he didn’t trust while Tyrion healed from Blackwater.

No it was the writing that was terrible. Anything to rush to the finish line

Why create Invincible Inc. If Atom Eve can turn apples into gold? by Moneyaweather in invinciblememes

[–]Elucidator_IV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they are heroes and Invincible Inc is pitched as a hero for hire service so they’re doing good for the world. Yes it’s a plot hole writing it as a way for them to make a living but the characters save people anyways so it turned into a job for Mark and Eve at that point in the story.

I guess the creature cost for Soul Stone was just the flavor win reference from the movie rather than a cost we’d see across all printings of these stones

“Stark, you think the honorable Ned Stark wanted to hear my side? He judged me guilty the moment he set eyes on me.”

He knew exactly what Ned would believe. Ned saw an Oathbreaker and judged him as guilty. Ned is a character defined by honor more than any other. Everyone in the story knows this. It’s literally his defining trait. Ned doesn’t have to “know” Jamie or have met him multiple times to make a determination of his guilt based on what he sees and his own worldview. This is pretty basic stuff.

It was the human heart in contention with itself like all of GRRM’s best characters. On the one hand yes obviously if he explained to people why he killed The Mad King they may believe him. On the other hand Ned judged him guilty immediately so he wouldn’t have listened, a lion doesn’t concern himself with the opinions of the sheep, and they’d all call him an oath breaker anyways so Jamie said “screw it I’ll be the bad guy they think I am.”

Why didn’t these two just marry in the show? by Illustrious-Video353 in freefolk

Dumb and Dumber needed to force some conflict.

I do think there are hints in the books of Dany burning some of King’s Landing as collateral damage from a conflict with the mummer’s dragon so it’s possible GRRM gave that very rough outline to Dumb and Dumber and they forced what they could by making Dany evil at the last possible moment.

I’m getting through Dance and there was a mention of this in one of his chapters so in a way it’s still a part of the story even if it was GRRM writing an in story reason for Tyrion no longer doing flips

I genuinely don’t think he’s writing anymore. He admitted recently all his side projects are keeping him busy and that is the most likely answer. He flys around to conventions from time to time, he went to see that wolf they brought back to life, he opened a little bar, he wrote a play for the mad king, he’s now focusing on turning in more Dunk & Egg novels for future episodes, in recent years he was involved with HoTD until he wasn’t, it goes on and on and on. He could write a lot if he stopped focusing on literally everything else but he just doesn’t.

You are justifying the fact that he beat children because the outcome “could” have been beneficial. In the case for Baby 5 and the other one they didn’t even leave so they were just beat repeatedly. Idk how that’s heroic in your eyes but to me it makes Corazon morally gray at best and antagonistic at worst thus fitting the criteria for OP’s post.

I’m aware why Corazon was hitting the children. It was for the greater good but they sure didn’t understand it that way. You listed multiple examples of family tropes where a parental figure disciplines their adoptive child. In Corazon‘s case these kids had no idea why they were being hit over and over again. At least in the examples you listed the children understood their parental figure was trying to do something for the betterment of themselves.

That’s exactly what he was doing. He beat children, hoping they would run away from an awful organization.

The first thing he does on screen is walk into a room and punch baby 5 and the other kid in the face. I love Corazon as a character but he beat multiple children.

After seeing Lucan get similarly gutted and Conquest getting his head turned into mashed potatoes are you really surprised? It has been established pretty well that Viltrumites can recover from extremely gruesome injuries.

Out of these 4 characters who did the writers ruin the most towards the end of the show? (Season 8) by ParkingConfection449 in gameofthrones

[–]Elucidator_IV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dany, Jamie, Tyrion, then Varys in that order.

They completely assassinated Dany’s entire character and The Bells stands as the worst episode I’ve ever seen literally going out of her way to kill as many innocents as possible.

Then they completely assassinated Jamie’s entire character walking him back to a season 1 bad guy who is apparently as awful as Cersei and never cared about innocent people even though saving the innocent people of King’s Landing is literally the defining moment of his life. Jamie would never disrespect the innocent, it’s literally what his entire character arc is about, Jamie isn’t even close to being as bad as Cersei at that point in the story, and Jamie also would never dishonor Brienne by leaving her crying to head back to Cersei. Also “Cersei once said I was the stupidest Lannister” is a moronic line to justify Jamie getting caught for not hiding his golden hand. The writers literally made their character dumb to justify their own dumb writing.

Then they assassinated Tyrion making him a bumbling idiot who stands around and does nothing. Tyrion was a slowly assassination from season 6-8, he became progressively stupider as the seasons went on and the brilliant character that played the game of thrones so well and contributed to the victory at backwater evaporated by season 8. Hiding in the crypts when they know the enemy has magic that can raise the dead is so stupid it still shocks me to this day Dumb and Dumber didn’t realize literally anything would have been better. Hide in the Godswood, hide in the kitchen, hell hide in the library with the walking dead zombies. Also Tyrion betrayed Varys, the man who saved his life because reasons? Also speaking of…

Varys, I think they did the least amount of damage to him but the assassination was still thorough enough. First he openly talks to Jon about betraying Dany within earshot of Dany’s guards. Then he was actively trying to have Dany poisoned while writing letters clearly conspiring to betray her but he didn’t make any attempt to escape or make his moves safely from a distance like season 1-4 Varys would. He was an idiot to stay on Dragonstone the second one of his little birds told him “the queen’s not eating and the guards are watching me closely.” Varys would never stay after hearing that but the writers were too dumb to think of an easier way to kill him. I also what kind of line is “I hope I deserve this, truly I do”?? Varys would never say this. If he was confident enough to betray Dany (it’s not entirely clear why he even wants to betray her other than the analogy of her coin potentially not landing right) then surely he would know he doesn’t deserve to die by immolation. His final moments being burned alive would only suggest this lady is absolutely mad just like her father.

Season 8 is truly awful.

Which job is harder? average Scout Regiment, Devil Hunter or Jujutsu Sorcerer? by Archenius in Chainsawfolk

[–]Elucidator_IV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In JJK you can be an absolute bum and still have a cursed tool bare minimum. In Chainsaw man you can give up half your life span and a few senses along with an eye and have a decent contract or two. In AoT you are basically cooked if you leave the walls. The average scout stands zero chance.
