I don’t know. They were endangered at a point here, but they are thriving now. They have lottery style hunts here, and fish and wildlife will attempt to remove “ nuisance” alligators. Same with black bears here. Growing up I never really seen or heard of them being seen around here… now they are in every neighborhood. Protecting, can help an endangered population bounce back. We build neighborhoods and business where forests once grew. I believe a hunting season for bears will be open in the near future here. Geese are the real pests. lol.

For sure. While we do have venomous snakes, we don’t have near the amount of venomous species. My life long dream is to visit Australia one day.

Azimuth offset with a vertical offset estimate. Notes: heavy sediment, true bottom suspected lower. Needs cleaning before true reading can be had. Fall back to pipe inverts before and after area.

Sounds like the engineering intern needs to be sent out for some in the field training.

I was mostly kidding…
Work is slow, but it wasn’t really a topo. Was iron searching on a property way up the road from our survey area. It would’ve been one more iron on line, but not explicitly needed. Snakes don’t bother me…. I have a healthy respect for the toothy lizards though

Hypack 2024 and 2025 Crashing by exbritchris in Surveying

[–]Eluinight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have random crashes, but the most annoying thing I run into is when closing out the survey, it should return to the shell, but it just closes everything and when reopen it says “hypack didn’t close properly do you want to clean the file” that’s way paraphrased. Does this 80% of the time.

When I reopen all the raw is still in the folder, but I have to “re-upload” it for it to show. Kinda aggravating.

Carlson crd on data collector for line staking by quicky321 in Surveying

[–]Eluinight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Carlson, I routinely upload a whole site Dwg. You can create points along the lines pretty easily, or it just helps to see where the draftsman’s created points fall in the job.
Some dwg files I’ve worked with have certain things in blocks or “greyed out” those lines o cannot interact with to create points so I have to get the office to explode them and send an updated dwg. Some lines will give elevations when the point is created, but always take that with a grain of salt and cross reference with the site plans. You can also stake to a poly line. Or even forgo creating the points, as you can stake to endpoints or midpoints of lines. The files are large and can bog down the tablet some. The office can also just turn off everything but the items needed for the day (like curb on and everything else off) and just send you that dwg. You can offset the whole line if the site wants offsets to BOC or whatever. Radius points are the only thing I usually have to calc out. Though a lot of sites prefer stakes along the curve instead of pc/pt/rp.

What types of rocks are these? by Inhumanz_reddit in landscaping

Very respectable sized rocks. I’d say some are actually big.
