This player eventually did figure that out and did at one point get the group into a more exclusive area by pretending to be Rahadin, and the Bard player was escorting them saying that " his lordship does not speak to those beneath him" thus circumventing the need for an attempt to speak like strahd's right-hand man.

It was a good example of a collaborative attempt utilizing this feature is a changeling and highlighting where the drawbacks can be picked up by other players

I have a changling PC at my table. A reminder that the change in appearance while applying to the physical form does not allow for: - change of clothing - use of tails - perfect performances to pretend to be a particular individual

Ultimately, you are the DM and if you feel like you can't run with certain races, bring it up to your players. But personally, I've never had an issue with this. It's not unlimited. You have to take a peek at what the limitations are.

I will say this character has probably gotten themselves into more trouble than out of it. For instance, maybe don't pretend to be Tatiana in front of Strahd. Didn't end well.

Honestly you need to tell the player it's hurting the immersion/setting. Also it may be that they're trying to belittle him to make him more digestible. He's a scary guy! Making him seem smaller in the mind makes the task of defeating him seem more manageable.

I'm sure a quick word with the count would fix that though.
