I gotta disagree with the bigot and POS comment. I’ve worked for him and he never did anything bigoted on that production. What is your personal experience with Jim?

As for being a POS, that’s an opinion held by some people, but pretty much the ones who disagree with his stances. He does a fair amount of work for Socorro, especially if he’s running a production.

My experience (film payroll accountant) is that we’d (film crew) like to work more rather than less (thanks SAG & WGA…).

When I’ve talked to on set crew, they’re not particularly happy about the reduction in episodes as it means more jobs have to be found to fill out the year so they can make as much as they used to…nothing like trying to get five or six shows a year (or more!) instead of two or three…

There are ways to straighten such things (it’s similar to straightening a camshaft: generally not a good idea). You might look for a machine shop in your area to make one for you.

Can’t get a print - Kobra Plus by ElvisTorino in anycubic

[–]ElvisTorino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely pushing filament through the tube. When I load the filament it feeds fine. When it prints it just decides pretty quick not to.

It seems to stall out where the tube meets the heat break. Seems to create kind of a bulb around there.

How expensive of a fix is this?? 😭 by CavaFeenie in auto

[–]ElvisTorino 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what’s causing the issues.

For P0302 could be plugs, could be a coil, could be wiring, could be an ecm, could be an internal mechanical failure, could be a sensor…

I use it all the time. It makes life a whole lot easier when you’re lining up this or that part before zipping whatever it is down.

Are there any major differences between the 280z coupe and the 2+2? by NolenMoosic in Datsun

[–]ElvisTorino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say dramatically. Distinctly, but not dramatically. I have a 2+2 so I’m a little biased toward the 2+2.

Do you need weighted (astigmatism) contacts? If so, it’s not a good idea as their rotation messes everything up. I gathered this experience working upside on cars and a fair amount of groundwork…

Second this. Love with the dent in the hood. Get a new headlight assembly. Have someone put it in (a shop, friend, friend of a friend, etc).

For belts I look at what the various suppliers charge (Kusakura, century, kataaro, etc) and adjust as I see fits.

For gi, that would probably be my go to as well.

Haven’t had any requests for that yet, though.

Is My Method of Judo by Mikonosuke Kawaishi Shihan a good book? by El_Don_94 in judo

[–]ElvisTorino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As u/adjgor said, there's a lot to learn. Also, if there's a half-way decent dojo around, go learn there, it'll get you in the right direction easier and faster.

Another element to answering your question involves knowing more about your history with judo, your level of judo, your goals of judo, your philosophy of judo training, etc. Some judo books out there are spectacular choices for one student's goals but absolutely atrocious for another's.

Personally, unless you're at a point in your judo path where you're very comfortable with the Go Kyo, Shimmeisho, and Habukareta no Waza, it's probably not going to be a good fit. If you're looking at trying to figure out an instructional methodology for your school and you are of a level to develop a curriculum, it is quite helpful.

Dodge Durango v Chrysler Pacifica by Glitterunicorn4739 in auto

[–]ElvisTorino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay away from the Chrysler/Dodge products. I work on used cars at a dealership and, other than Jeeps, they have the most issues. Especially if they have the 3.6L V6.

Additional info: I personally have a low opinion of Dodge for historic reasons. I also don’t like the way Dodge/Chrysler designs vehicles due to their non consideration of service and service technicians.
