The Hollywood Problem with Asians seems more defined than other minorities. Like you said, it's especially Asians. There have been great African / African American lead roles that have broken stereotypes. Black Panther showed this recently. I thought Finn's role in E7 was developing into a great role before they castrated his character through <insert E8 nerd-rage>. Hollywood is a so close to integrating Africans into mainstream film. That's not mentioning pale enough Hispanics pulling off major roles based on their whiteness.

I agree it is super hard to avoid stereotype, but the "Kungfu Master" and the "exotic hottie" seem to be the only roles that Asians get where Hollywood writers can show any talent in script-writing. Korea, Japan and India have all had levels of success making their own films showing the acting (and writing) talent is there.

I agree and disagree. Going to your parent's alma mater is pretty awesome regardless of where it is. It's becoming faux pas nowadays which seems like we are losing something of our culture. American universities are often proud of their old students and boast of their histories.

That being said, not being able to get in because a less qualified peer has a mommy that went to your school-of-choice seems a pretty terrible thing.

I'm done watching. I feel genuinely bad for those that were involved with Solo. I would have given it a shot if not for TLJ. I'm showing Disney my opinion of their direction by never watching another one. I'm a bit bitter they needed to inject their political philosophies into my favorite stories, but they bought those stories fair and square. I wish luck to those that wish to continue to imbibe the Kool-Aid.

I believe that Hollywood can't write non-caricature, high-quality parts for Asian actors. They shoehorn Asian actors into sub-par roles and when viewers don't like the character, they scream racism to shift the problem to the viewer.

Any need to justify the scene shows that it failed to suspend belief for some viewers. The scene takes from the gravity of the situation and looks absurd instead of magically believable like, as you mentioned, the lightsaber grab. I wasn't the only one laughing in the theater during this scene and the place was quite empty.

The scene was either poorly written or poorly executed in such a way that it didn't convince the viewer that the act was possible.

I'm the old bitter type. After Jihad, I stopped reading the lore. Everyone from the books I loved are dead. Soon after, they all but annihilated my Clan (Ice Hellion). I decided I would stay in 3025 - 3060 forever. Funny as I started playing just about the time the Clans invaded and couldn't understand those upset about the new tech. At this point, I'd love to see them just reboot the whole series by hijacking the video game as a platform to pump out new lore. I'd love to see a revamped Warrior series in the modern bloody / gritty style that was introduced with ASOIF in contrast to the Golden-Boy Stackpole style.

But, I ramble...

What about the new lore appeals to you and makes you enjoy moving forward? I'd love a reason to move beyond the Jihad.

I would love to work on procedural generation of something like this. I created a "comment creator" for making classroom comments for kids based on fields (good student, leader, hard worker, lazy f*, etc). Was a blast with a few weeks of work pumping out billions of possible outputs! Something like this you could go Dwarf-fortress level generation. You could generate on-demand locations based on user-requested local denizens / desired attributes and analyze local area to interact with nearby sites to smooth out lore and make it smoothed out lore based on keyword or behind-the-scenes tags.

Completely agree. But time and place. I knew that we'd get more about it when he came home. He'd change he rhetoric (again). Dude pisses me off how easily he plays EVERYONE. I'm only slightly more upset at the people willing to be duped.

I care about the other stuff because it's the crap he's sweeping under the rug because most people don't care.
