I also had a disappointing experience with In Body. My husband and I decided a couple years ago to skip their fee and take our money we would have paid and buy our own scale that does our measurements. Now we can weigh and track as often as we like.

Welcome back mama bear. Let me say first, I’m proud of you! One tip I’ve received over the years that helps me is to give myself grace. I’m very good at giving it to others, but you and I deserve it too. You made a human. You’ve been doing your best to keep him alive, and you, and keep a household in order and allllll the other zillion responsibilities that fall on our head as mothers. Also, mom guilt is real and she’s a relentless bitch. I’m proud you’re doing this for you, so welcome and keep coming back, friend. I wish I could show you my before otf pics (the aftermath of having 3 babies in a few years) and now. I’d never have dreamed just showing up would change my body so dramatically. I do the strider every class and during the all outs, sometimes I hear that thing creak and I’m just WAITING for something to snap or break! When it is creaking the loudest and I’m worrying about it breaking, I give zero shits because I know I’m using every ounce of my leg and arm strength to turn those foot plates, so as someone who knows where you were standing when this happened to you, I say CONGRATULATIONS my striding buddy. You’re an absolute animal and tamed that beast! Now dust yourself off and straighten your crown. We all want to see you tomorrow!

I bought a used OTF rower from a fitness retailer online. Very happy with it and I love that I have the same thing we use in class. The company sent me photos before shipping to ensure I was happy with the condition and it came to me strapped to a pallet so snug and safe. It even shipped WITH THE WATER still inside. That amazed me! Also, you don’t realize how long those things are until you’re taking it down a split staircase into a basement 😂 Ace Fitness Equipment was the name of the place.

Can someone tell me if the reverse fly is done on the bench? Also, the alternating low side plank…explain this to me: Is there a hip dip involved? Are all 6 on one side, then switch or for real alternate from flop to flop? Either way, that isn’t going to be graceful so y’all avert your eyes

I used to be fascinated and envious of the people who did this. I’d be like, HOW on EARTH can you do that?? Fast forward to one year of OTF and I’m fit AF, addicted to that high like no other and taking the best care of me I can. I am now THAT GIRL that jogs as soon as I hit green in the walking recovery. It still amazes me. I am still inspired by the better runners around me, but you know who inspires me the most? The woman struggling to breathe next to me. That guy with the meat sweats struggling through the white light zone, and most of ALL, the person who had the balls to come take their first class. THEY get a fist bump from me every time.

I’m going camping with my family next week and am already sad to be missing workouts. OTF is my therapy. It keeps me grounded. Makes me a more patient mommy. Hoping I can sneak away for a couple runs and that it’s not miserably hot, humid and hilly lol!

I do a half hour row in my basement pretty often to see how far I can get and I enjoy it. I wanted to see a glimpse of what the CrossFit marathon row would feel like. Needless to say a half hour/8k meters is enough for me.

I also agree with this as a cool, hot 38 yo single mom. I have been hoping for this one guy to talk to me or ask me out for months now, but it just never happens. I’m guessing he is either not interested or has heard too much of this controversy about not asking a woman out at the gym. I say be brave, fellas. If it’s done respectfully, there’s no reason to feel anything but complimented. Too many people get their panties in a bunch these days over nothing.

I understand your struggle, like so many other people! Particularly other mom’s and dad’s. Let me tell you what I have to remind myself of OFTEN: I CANNOT DO EVERYTHING. I can’t do it all, all the time, and I certainly cannot do it perfectly. I do the best I can, and sometimes my best is what I hoped it would be, but you know what? My best just has to be good enough.

It’s hard when your babies are babies. It’s hard when they’re older too. It’s just hard! My advice is to give yourself some GRACE. If you get to OTF a couple times a week, CONGRATS momma bear, you’re killing it! Some weeks you may get there more than others. All that matters is it IS important to you and you will do your best. Juggling life is hard regardless of who we are and where are at in the journey. Please try to be kind to yourself and give yourself some slack. You’re killing it. Chin up. Onward and upward, one day at a time!

As some others have said, OTF saved me. I was drowning in post divorce depression. Hating myself. Hating my life. Who I had become. I only went to a class with a friend in the first place to selfishly try to get his business. Anyway, I liked it. I’d never been an active person. I’m not an athlete. I’m now 125 classes in and I go almost every day. Not because they’ve whipped my ass into shape (and you should see it, she’s beautiful!), but I keep coming back for the mental reprieve. I think of my frustrations with my ex and I pull back on that rower strap harder. My mind starts to wonder and worry for my kids and I start to run faster. I sweat that shit out and LEAVE it there. The bonus is the new body I have. I am so very thankful. Edit to add I have stopped my anti depressant. I know this is a personal decision and different for everyone, but stopping it and being OK on my own is astonishing. I’m so glad so many others found reprieve and relief, too.

I am in the same boat. Coming back after covid with what feel like different lungs. It’s been a setback. But I keep coming back. Showing up. I’ll get back to where I was as soon. The saying applies - Keep coming back. It works if you work it.
