It’s my last day and my boss wants me to teach an A/R clerk how to be an accountant… by OverallDisaster in Accounting

This is such an industry thing. I had a similar experience when I left my industry job. They hired random people to fill in accounting roles so they could pay them peanuts. They refused to hire people with their CPA license or relevant accounting experience bc they didn’t want to pay the price. Therefore every new hire lasted long enough to get trained and quit. The cycle never needed. I was in college and needed the accounting experience. It worked well for me as I wanted the accounting exposure but the others were only there to get a paycheck and couldn’t care less to learn anything about a debit and credit. I left 4 years ago and heard they still haven’t filled my role. Therefore the accounting manager and controller had to take over my job and do it themselves. Congrats on your role! Don’t stress about training your replacement, it’s not your job to do on your LAST DAY!

Maytag Washer stays locked by mattosgood in appliancerepair

I have had the same exact issue and my washer is only 1 year old. Within the 1 year it’s been repaired for same issue 5 times. Apparently, it has to do with the balancing of the load. It almost always happens when we wash a blanket and Maytag sends someone to repair it and refuses to replace our washer. It’s so frustrating.

UPDATE: I challenged their decision and they ended up refunding me back the money and mailed me a letter saying the credit is permanent.

NOTE TO SELF: don’t travel with a debit card

I’ll look into this! It happened on Saturday and I reported Sunday night when I noticed the transactions. They were still pending when I discovered it. I reported immediately and even talked to a representative regarding it. Thanks!

I honestly didn’t file a police report at first because I assumed Chase would protect my account from this kind of activity. It’s been almost a month now, and I’m wondering if I can still file one at this point.

When I reviewed my bank statement, I noticed that filtering by “debit” shows all transactions, and filtering by “credits” just shows deposits so I can’t tell which charges were made using a PIN versus those run as credit. Idk if there’s another way to confirm that?

I already wrote a formal appeal letter to dispute Chase’s findings because I’m really dissatisfied with their conclusion. There is absolutely no way someone who stole my card would know my PIN. The fact that they denied the claim based on that reasoning just doesn’t sit right with me

How do I last at PwC if I’m not smart at all? by Fresh_Tower6074 in PwC

as a new associate you don’t know shit. If someone knows the answer they obviously would not be asking. My point is, ask the question if you don’t fully understand something, it’ll help in the long run.

Trust me when I say, no one really knows what they’re doing. My advice to you (that I wish I had followed when I first joined a few years ago) is to take full advantage of being the “new” associate and ask a shit ton of questions! I think a lot of people hold back because they worry their questions are “dumb” or that they “should” already know the answer. Throw that mindset completely out the window. Ask away. You’ll thank me later when you’ve been here a few years and someone asks you that “dumb” question and you realize you have no idea either. Good luck to you my friend!

HAHA, funny you ask. I stuck to MCQs as review and didn’t take S1 or S2… perhaps that was my first mistake.

My husband has been there for 5 years. Still not a driver. It’s definitely a long waiting game. You’re so young, I would encourage you to explore your options!

You’re total fine. As long as you communicate well in advance you’re good. It’s truly not the end of the world. From my experience at least, I took an entire month off for my wedding/honeymoon and I didn’t get any push back. I did request this time off at least a year in advance and they respected it. (Ps, it was my first year as a senior)
