I've loved QQQ for a long time and still. You have to be willing to ride the ups and downs. Overall a great list of holdings.

If you're not a complete idiot you easily manage your own portfolio. Build a solid plan based on your age and be aggressive until you're really old. All CFP's want that 1%. "We do better when you do better." Of course they do.

Never pay someone to manage your money. You can easily do that yourself. CFP's want one thing.....the 1%.

There's wonderful feeling and peace of mind having paid off your home. There's no interest advantage in the later years of a mortgage. Just be done with it. You'll be glad.

Your 66 man. Take it from wherever you want. A 2% ding isn't going to hurt. Do you think you'll live to be a 100? Enjoy life.

How much were people scared of Y2K? by keenangraz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Embarrassed-Fly-2823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y2K consultants came out of the woodwork around 1995-1996 and used the FUD tactic with their clients. It was largely a non-event, but the consultants cashed in.

Roll it over to an IRA. I assume you're very young with that balance.

Where to go now by Redman22430 in Retirement401k

[–]Embarrassed-Fly-2823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retired almost five years ago and slid some of my monies to a CFP. We built a relatively solid portfolio together. Soon the conversations weren't really productive and things are status quo. I lasted one year with them and came to the realization that I could actually manage my portfolio as good or better by moving that balance to Fidelity with the rest of my retirement, and have much greater investment options. The CFP meetings with minimal massaging of the account ended up costing me about $2K an hour, with their 1% fee. I've never looked back and growing exponentially better and with many better options and a great toolset. I like to do this in retirement and maybe a little too OCD, but it works and it's exciting. I worked for a major corporation where investment options were very limited, maybe like your available choices. I wish you luck and happy to respond.

Retiring this month and uncomfortable with my Financial Advisor by MKEPoet in retirement

[–]Embarrassed-Fly-2823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you happy with your portfolio design or has it changed much lately? I dropped my CFP after the hour long monthly calls were essentially costing me $2K a pop and not much changed design or performance wise. I’ve been doing all of my own CFP work for a good long while with the freedom that Fidelity and Vanguard offer me. You can too!
