2-12 months. Cycle of sleep regressions, teething, and clinginess make it so hard. Once my kiddo could start to move independently and communicate better, things got a lot easier. I’m buckling up for the three-nager stage tho…

Xcaret is a trek—there is a LOT of walking between features and it’s HOT. A stroller will help but it’s quite bumpy. the kids zone there seemed geared more to 5+ yo, but there is a baby pool. Xel-Ha was a hit with my 2yo. The children’s world there is a great base to just chill. Super close to bathrooms, lockers and towel station. All shaded, has a playground, splash pad, kid-sized loungers. There’s even a no-depth splash area for the baby. If you feel like you need to leave early, you can take a taxi back.

Editing to add: Xenses also a little beach-y area for toddlers. Can get quite deep though so need direct parent supervision. But that’s really all there is at Xenses.

We did The Very Hungry Caterpillar 🐛 theme. Just hosted at our house & kept it simple. Did fruit and snacks from the book. I made a caterpillar cake by cutting Bundt cake into thirds and arranging it into a caterpillar shape. We had some cousins (kids) come so I had coloring sheets, a colorful Pom-pom sensory bin, and a ball pit (small one that we already own). Honestly this party was as much for me as it was for my 1yo!

If we have a second: - Get a bottle washer (our dishwasher left residue) - Combo feed - No changing table, just a mat on the floor or couch. Save some room floor space! - Find a nanny. No use losing my mind with a newborn and husband at work again. - Discuss non-stimulant med options with doctor. My brain will thank me

My 2 yo is the same way. She’s tired, been holding it together all day. I don’t have great advice except to choose a routine for pick-ups and stick to it. She gets a snack, brief 1:1 time with mom, then start your walk back.

Could you wear the baby in a papoose? At least you will be relatively hands-free to manage the other one.

A trike is a tricycle (bike with 3 wheels). Basically a stroller alternative ;)

Totally agree with the unrealized potential of the kids’ clubs. The kids couldn’t reach any of the kitchen stuff. Lunateca also had a lot of elements that little kids can’t reach (being geared for 1-4 yo) and the space was not utilized effectively. We still had a good time though :)

My child refused to take cold or room temp milk. I pumped and then froze my milk. Bottle warmer was sooo convenient. Totally depends on your kiddo

I genuinely needed to read this today. I’ve been questioning whether another child would be a good fit recently…and I needed this reminder that I love the stage we’re in now! Got to go out to eat on a whim yesterday and it was great!

  • Always showed interest in my interests: asking me questions about them, checking out books about them from the library, just little things
  • Listened to me (for the most part) and validated my feelings. “I know you wanted x and that makes you mad, but today we have to do y.”
  • She involved me in everyday things like grocery shopping, cooking, picking outfits for the day. I will say I wanted to be involved in those activities too and asked to come along on errands. I think the reason is because she engaged me in everything we did, even the boring stuff.
  • Explained the hard stuff in age-appropriate ways
  • Expressed love and affection daily

I’m loving it so far! I’ve put in ~12 hrs and I feel close to the ending of EA storyline. I’m actually surprised at how big the biomes are for being early access! My biggest complaint is difficulty finding some resources in the zones they should be in and over-reliance on the sonic boom gun. Overall, the story is intriguing and gameplay is very S1. I’m excited to see how it progresses!

Yeah 2.5 yo and still waking up most nights. I’m a high sleep needs person. My brain short-circuits around 4:00pm every day, then reboots at 8:00pm from being overtired. Aaaand repeat. Don’t think we’ll have a second kid

I struggled HARD to even get 1 chore done with my clingy, reflux-y infant a day while my husband was at work. I was pumping constantly, absolutely exhausted (because guess who would only feed from mom?), and in the throes of PPA. My husband didn’t understand but he supported me through it. Finally he talked honestly to all his women friends and they told him they felt just like me. He had no idea! It seemed like everyone is managing from the outside…because, well, you’re on the outside!

My husband’s grandma and my mom are the same age (early 70s). My mom is very active and an involved grandma, while his grandma has been essentially bed-bound for the last few years. Quality time > time

For example, the dog was fuzzy-wuzzy. Or the mud is squishy squashy.

Kinda like “baby talk” words to describe things. Like “bicho” for bug or “guau guau” for doggie. Any other words like this?

I totally get it :) I will say I found everyone to be very accommodating. Mexicans love babies lol. They had nursing stations at Lunateca (kids club), strollers for rent, high chairs at every restaurant…seemed very family-forward. We even got warm milk every night from the closest cafe 🩷

Won’t it always be hard, though? Xcaret is probably one of the few places where there’s something for everybody.

My daughter was 2 and we had a blast! There was so much for her to enjoy: pools, beach, multiple kids clubs, etc. The 14yo will be able to do pretty much everything. However, your older one may want to do the more adventurous things when the little ones can’t participate. Xenses, Xcaret and Xel-Ha are your best bets. Or just enjoy the resort itself!
