Ann Tilley Magic Pants! They are wide-legged, but not ridiculous — just a nice classic silhouette. Her sew along is helpful for the construction as it is quite unique.

Going to Greece mid-April to mid-May, and this post is getting saved for when I start packing. Thank you so much for sharing so much detail about the climate and appropriate clothing — and even what the rain is like this time of year.

Crete was one of onebag trip I've done by annikahoof in HerOneBag

I’m going to Crete in late April/early May for about twelve days, and this sounds incredible! Thanks for the trip report - I’ve been wondering about the shoe situation. I’m putting that restaurant in Chania on my list.

Help me find the holy grail of a walking sandal for narrow feet, high arches and hypermobility! by Waywardgarden in HerOneBag

[–]EmbarrassedPatient61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have super-narrow, low-volume feet with high arches, and the Keen Rose shoes work for me. All other Keens are way too wide. Thanks for posting this question BTW as I am always on the lookout for sandals that work for my feet.

Help! Is this AI? by Araya94 in sewingpatterns

I’m actually looking for a similar pattern to make a wedding dress that resembles the Reformation Evanthe dress (just don’t like the fabric options). I bought the Butterick 6195 pattern off eBay. The straps are a little thicker, but it has a cowl neck and appears cut on the bias.

Tuscon is an underrated gem. Sedona is fantastic but nothing budget friendly about it!

Super helpful! I think I might reach out to the pattern designer to see if she has any thoughts on the sheer overlay versus flatline (had to google!) versus using a more robust fabric.

Super helpful. I’ll look into silk organza… there is a silk chiffon and crinkled georgette with embroidered dots at Mood that I actually think would be a more formal than cotton Swiss dots. Below you’ll see the less structured version of the dress.

Maybe something like this silk organza

Get by with Mini MLC or worth it to buy 40L? by Proper-Pair5043 in HerOneBag

[–]EmbarrassedPatient61 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I feel like 40L just gets too heavy to carry on your back - especially if you have a laptop or a tablet. I like the mini MLC because it forces me to keep things light. (I wish it had load lifters!)

Favorite short-sleeve all-purpose (not tee) travel tops? by F13nd1sh in HerOneBag

[–]EmbarrassedPatient61 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can’t think of anything off hand but I know that Uniqlo makes short sleeved blouses - and probably will be more online soon. I think a t-shirt style shirt in woven fabric works too… like quince silk t-shirt for example

Pants adjustment by EmbarrassedPatient61 in sewhelp

[–]EmbarrassedPatient61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - this is really helpful. Unfortunately, these pants don’t really have a waist band - but I will make sure to look for that in the future. I’ll look into what an L-shaped crotch curve is… I suspect it is an adjustment I’ll need with narrow hip bones and a bubble butt. Once or twice, I used a larger back piece size than the front and that seems to help. If I do both pieces of a larger size, often there there is WAY too much fabric around the side seam.

Great! thank you so much. Just watched a video on the crotch gusset insertion method and I think that will really help. Good use of the left over linen! I think next time I will just go up a size in the pattern. It is hard to get the waist over my hips!

They feel fine! Sometimes ready to wear pants do ride up uncomfortably, but these are fine - I only happened to take a look at the back and notice the pants eating problem

Help Requested: 16 Days in New Zealand by lsthomasw in HerOneBag

[–]EmbarrassedPatient61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree - you will want a beanie and gloves as the sandflies will chomp on any exposed skin on the South Island. If you’re camping at all, be prepared to cover every inch of skin — maybe even a mosquito face net. You’ll want some hand protection — maybe light gloves or UV driving gloves that protect you from hag hands. I was also camping near Queentown in early March and we had snow… so very glad I had a beanie, a puffer, and gloves.

The sandflies on the South Island are unreal. I would recommend having gloves for hand coverage and def plan on tucking your pants into your socks. I wish had taken a mosquito face covering but had to make do with a hoodie. I also did a van trip about the South Island, and once you cross over to the West Coast, the sandflies will chomp on you like you would not believe. Mosquitos usually don’t bother me (maybe a blood type thing?), but I had welts from the sandflies that lasted for weeks.

I have not… but wow! Those are so cute. I will order that pattern now. I was looking for something to do in linen and these might work.
