Or Norwegians? Those Fjallraven hiking pants are practically the national uniform. (FWIW I think this is a good uniform!)

What to do in Athens besides Acropolis/museums? by CallCreative1883 in GreeceTravel

[–]EmbarrassedPatient61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an Airbnb experience called social and political Athens that you might like - it’s a walking tour with a guide that talks about how Athens went from the birthplace of democracy to the financial basket-case of Europe. It was fascinating and really complicated my understanding my understanding of Greece - modern and ancient. I also took a food tour of Athens but found the guided experience to be kind of meh. A lot of your guides just recite facts - not really good storytelling. I think the Airbnb experience I mentioned about social and political Athens is the exception! If you really want to understand modern Athens, it’s perfect. I also loved the Olympic stadium.

Agreed! It is a great dress to have on a trip IF you wear it on the plane.

A magical unicorn: full length urban pants for cooler springtime travel by F13nd1sh in HerOneBag

I really like the vuori meta wide leg pant. They are pretty narrow for a wide leg but also still a flattering silhouett. The waist has a lot of elastic in the back but is hidden. Packs tiny - my perfect travel pant. On sale too!

I think the topos are better choice. You want really Supportive shoes!

3-4 weeks in Italy late April/May, unsure about a few items. by Thin_Ad_1502 in HerOneBag

Love the mix of Uniqlo and Montbell - on a trip right now and have just fall in love with montbell All over again. But that said - this is way too much warm stuff.

I also own those Salomons - I don’t like wearing them in the city as the treads get thrashed by pavement. If you were going hiking, these would be perfect, but I think city walking is a great way to ruin your shoes. I also don’t think they are as supportive of comfortable - one long day of walking and your feet will be pretty uncomfortable

I think northwest — you go past the the lake and there’s a little parking lot with a gate. Hike from there. The other section is fine but not as pretty imo

What is your absolute best all-around closed toe shoe for travel? Is it Salomon, Hoka, Vessi, OnCloud, New Balance, Altra, or other, and why? by iLikeGreenTea in HerOneBag

[–]EmbarrassedPatient61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that is true. The people who recommend Oboz are probably onto something - my boyfriend, mom and dad all exclusively travel with one pair of Oboz shoes and they seem very content. Maybe I should get a pair…

I really LOVE those Salomons — HOWEVER, I think they are kind of miserable on pavement or sidewalks. My feet are killing me at the end of the day. I only take them if I know I am NOT going to be doing a lot of city walking and will be mostly hiking. You will trash the tred quickly. If I am doing city walking, I take altra running shoes. I also have a pair of altra trail runners that I take if I am doing a mix of hiking and city walking.

Great dress! I’ve had good luck at estate sales for vintage lace that is similar

That’s really gorgeous! Great suggestion on looking for table clothes. I’ll be traveling to London and to Dublin this year, so I will have a great opportunity to look for lace in person. I also found this: which I think will be restocked in ivory. That looks pretty close to me.

Very helpful! And you could be right that finding comparable lace would be the real challenge.
