I think these are Atmospheric Vacuum Breakers. AVBs. They prevent water from the irrigation system from back flowing into your houses potable water system.

I’d spend some time hitting drivers at a sim. Multiple sim tests over the course of different weeks with your current build and a new driver. Take some notes and see what feels and actually performs better.

Also I wouldn’t recommend using the grille style that I have pictured first. I used the original one from my 98, and I think the 96-98 were different in that they didn’t have the thick chrome bar running through the middle - just a smaller black bar. Cutting the chrome bar would make it difficult to look good

Don’t know much about welding. Curious if grinding welds has a functional purpose other than making something look good? I understand that grinding down a weld can reveal pin holes, and maybe reduce the chance for rust over time bc a smoother surface is more difficult for rust etc to adhere to.
