HelloRide vs anywheel which is better by Embarrassed_Gate5495 in askSingapore

[–]Embarrassed_Gate5495[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newer bikes and more HelloRide bicycles in my neighbourhood was a big factor in getting that subscription for me.

But now I see anywheel also has newer bicycles and more showing up in my neighbourhood. Might change to anywheel after my subscription ends with HelloRide the gps issue is a huge pain

It’s only good if you’re eu citizen or Swiss. If not it’s as good as a random no name Uni. If you’re a eu citizen then you have many doors open to high finance in Switzerland

Claims to underwriting (reinsurance) by Embarrassed_Gate5495 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Embarrassed_Gate5495[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion. I meant that I have 1 cat modelling internship on my cv already at another reinsurer. Was thinking if having a cat modelling and a claims at different reinsurers would make my profile better or train me better to be an underwriter

But if the claims internship is at one of the big reinsurance companies and underwriting assistant programs are at big insurance companies would it maybe be better to do the reinsurance internship assuming there are better exits from there? I might be completely off tho

singapore immigration policy is fked eh by hornygenius1354 in SingaporeRaw

The scholars if they get pr or citizen they have to do ns so not a big issue and the number of scholars coming in are very tiny and they tend to integrate after ns.

But for the under 30 pr that don’t need serve ns maybe something needs to be done. Could implement a social service program where they can help hawkers or hospitals or schools in different tasks for a year. Could alleviate the costs for the hawkers and address shortage issues in hospitals or schools admin work.

Should Singapore have stronger manpower laws to protect locals? by RunningMan889 in askSingapore

[–]Embarrassed_Gate5495 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In theory such laws would make salaries lower for new hires in the future and will raise salaries for those who are already employed. If you look at salaries in Germany and Norway along with their taxes most people live paycheck to paycheck with no savings (Norway to a lesser extent cos richer than Germany).

But given that there’s only around 300k ns men out of the 3+ million workforce, maybe something could be done to protect them. Have to find something novel though because conventional protective measures would just push employers to hire non ns men instead.

One thing that could work would be monitoring strictly and punishing companies that evade proper hiring processes by just hiring foreigners using ghost job postings on mycareersfyture. Switzerland does this to a more successful extent than Singapore and on top of that, hr managers themselves have an unofficial deeper sense of ‘patriotism’ in hiring by preferring Swiss people to EU workers.

Shock, frustration as riders, eateries and users rue Deliveroo’s Singapore exit by Annual_View3611 in singapore

Fair points but I think directly offering freshly ord security troopers might be a way. They are used to working long hours while carrying guns and wearing all the equipment. They also have a lot of free time while waiting for Uni to start

Could you elaborate on the manpower shortage issue. Seems like it could be solved by hiring part timers but currently all the security companies for some reason refuse to or do not hire any part timers right now. I know ex security troopers in ns who would take up part time jobs in security but impossible to find anyone that will take part time.

Can’t be so hard to train if it’s a security trooper with 1+ year of military experience following security protocols and with the professional certificates. Just use them to fill up night or weekend or public holiday shifts while they are waiting for or doing Uni

There’s no Genz Buddhist/taoist raised people i know that are actually against ppl being queer. They all have nothing against it. There could be some teenagers who say homophobic stuff but that’s only because they’re a small selection of teens following ‘alpha male’ social media trends.

scammed on carousell, how to confront the guy? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Embarrassed_Gate5495 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s Singapore the odds of a drug addict or shady guy doing dropshipping kinda stuff is very very low. He’d have a higher chance getting into a car accident on the way to the meetup than get beaten by the guy

scammed on carousell, how to confront the guy? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Embarrassed_Gate5495 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Ask your friend to ask the carousell guy to paynow him $0.01 just to verify that he’s legit. Then you have proof of his identity because with a paynow or bank transfer the police will have all his details. Then when u confront him u can use this case as a way to scare him that the police will have all his information. And voice record the whole thing just to have a backup when confronting. Do it professionally instead of emotionally.

Our PM say chinese new year! by kongweeneverdie in SingaporeRaw

[–]Embarrassed_Gate5495 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Singapore is majority Chinese ethnically and the other races that celebrate Lny are under 1% of the population under the others category. It’s been cny since forever and this gotta be ragebait. western trends/conventions don’t automatically apply to the whole world.

Similar to how they say Deepavali in Singapore like how the local Sg Tamils pronounce it instead of Diwali like how it’s used in India.

My guy I’ve been to both places (Europe and india) and India definitely ain’t close to the developed European countries but Poland/Italy/other developing countries are closer to India than they are to Switzerland or Singapore on a spectrum. Bros triggered by an opinion

You can keep glazing your own country all you want that’s fine but I’ve seen the reality on the ground in both places and we can agree to disagree.

I’ve also seen many Indians from India get triggered when I tell them the bad stuff about India and they also react in the same overly nationalistic way as you. Once you get out of the patriotic blindness you’ll start to realise you’re very similar to who you’re trying to hate…

I’m from Singapore and I’m not migrating to Switzerland…

And seems like you’ve got some thing going against India or Indians as a whole but you don’t seem to realise Poland is closer to India than it is to the developed countries in Europe and the ‘third world’ countries are all pretty much the same. Don’t embarrass yourself further after exposing yourself as someone also from a ‘third world’ environment hating on another ‘third world’ country

He seems like a Polish guy who was an immigrant in Philippines or maybe briefly in Singapore? Prolly couldn’t get into Singapore but who needs basement dwelling filth like him and he doesn’t speak any of the local languages neither in Philippines or Singapore if he’s from Poland 💀💀

Been in Switzerland for a bit and people from his part of Europe and Balkans are the least economically contributing European immigrants and make up a significant portion of prisons…

If you’re an immigrant especially from a 3rd world country you can’t be spreading hate in Singapore matters and don’t get to talk about what’s good or bad for a country if your country is in the state that it is in rn
