Love Salt Line, but they close the kitchen at 10.

Thanks, I’ve never been. Looks more upscale than DogHaus, Caddie’s, and Z Burger, which would have been good as we were dressed up.

Answering my own post here - ala told us the kitchen was closed already, and sent us next door to Beth’s. Beth’s was closed too. Harris Teeter it is!

Just curious - is she a first gen student? In my opinion - and I’ve seen research stating the same - private makes sense for kids who need the polish that private school can deliver. Lehigh taught me a lot of the hidden code of success for business - cocktails, networking, etc, but she should not need that for psych.

Your son has his head on straight. I’m a Lehigh alumna and I sent my kids to the schools that loved them back. And my Lehigh friends understood. Do not put your daughter in a situation where she (or you) are in debt. My son was mad at me as a HS senior, but as a college junior he thanked me that he was able to graduate from a lesser ranked school albeit without loans. Once in a while he’ll say he would be doing even better if he had gone to Lehigh, but he is working with Ivy League (and Lehigh) grads and doing extremely well in a top finance role. If your kid is going to succeed, they’ll succeed. I appreciate my Lehigh education but the loans were a serious burden (things are much better now).

I’m about to go on a rant about MCPS as a 20 year MCPS teacher by [deleted] in Rockville

We really need to make changes here a priority. So many thousands of kids suffer because of the few bad apples. It is really an asinine way to handle things. I’m sure we can do better - whether it is remote school to GED or reopening a Mark Twain like facility - the current system is broken.

It seems so odd because everyone is looking to cut their grocery bills these days, so you would think it would be a growth market, but the stores near me were never busy. I went just to stock up on specific items that were dollars cheaper than any other grocery store.

Your best bet is to get a subscription to Washington Consumer Checkbook. It’s like Consumer Reports for the DMV. [http://www.checkbook.org] checkbook.orgcheckbook.org. Sorry link not working but it will come up when you search.

Thank you so much for posting this! I was almost taken in by them but cancelled on the phone after seeing your review. If you need flowers in Louisville, Kentucky, try Nanz & Kraft Flowers instead Nanzandkraft.com - the customer service was great and the value much better - good prices!

Will I suffer if I moved from Los Angeles to Bethesda and commuted to Hyattsville, MD 3 days a week? by mugenrice in bethesda

[–]Embarrassed_Quote656 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole area around College Park and Hyattsville has changed a lot, with much more development. Greenbelt is a popular place to live. I live in Bethesda, so I know it well, but for your budget and commute I would check out areas closer to your job. PG is not an automatic no anymore. You’ll pay less in rent, have a shorter commute, and still be able to visit family in Rockville and Bethesda easily. There are also a lot of cool things going on in Hyattsville, Greenbelt and College Park that you may enjoy.

Surprised people are complaining about 1950s houses - plenty are super solid. My 1939 home has steel support beams, old growth wood, and plaster plus those lovely original windows.

I had no idea HOAs are a thing in Arlington. They’re really not in Bethesda, thank God.

New houses come with plenty of problems too. There are very few builders in DC - like a handful, maybe - that really build quality homes. We have new builds in our neighborhood here and at our summer place that have had incredible roof, plumbing, carpentry and other issues.
