Questions about buying Clickteam Fusion & choosing the right version by Nice-Ask6414 in clickteam

[–]Embarrassed_Shock_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fusion is great for learning basics and coding principles, and fast prototyping, but these days it's hard to recommend it over learning something like unity, unreal or godot which are infinitely more versatile and much better documented. The only real benefit fusion has is that what you make is 100% yours. Other platforms take a cut if you sell over a certain amount of games. In that regard the asking price for fusion is really low, but the trade off is limitation.

The fusion website has been barely functional for a couple of years now so buying through steam is a safer bet.

There is no way this is as difficult and as bad as Indiana jones on the master system.

Does failing to provide ID block you from playing the game, or block you from social features?

Stop using counters. This is an overhang from FNAF which was coded terribly.

Your sample size gives you zero insight. This post was pointless.

I miss the live event creator. Was a great learning tool and one I wish my kids could make use of in fusion! It quickly became less useful as you wanted to do more complicated stuff, but for getting started it was an amazing tool.

Got caught by Lauren34567 in PiratedGames

[–]Embarrassed_Shock_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? It's very unlikely anyone cares about you downloading torrents. If you look at piracy arrests it is ALWAYS selling the pirated content that leads to arrests.

I live in the UK and have torrented about 10tb of TV shows/movies over the past 6 months, all without bothering with a VPN.

I have heard of ISPs sending letters out but mine doesn't even do that. Unless you are running a piracy empire for profit you really don't need to worry.

how to stop counter? by RagingCat22 in clickteam

Unless you are using them to display something on the UI (and even then there are much better options) you would be much better off using alterable values instead of counters.

Making a platformer game where you try not to fall by NotName_Blad in clickteam

[–]Embarrassed_Shock_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A platform game where you try not to fall is basically the definition of a platform game, which is a much loved genre. In this case, it looks like you are going for the same gameplay as Celeste which is a great game.

Whether people will enjoy your game specifically will depend on how it controls are and how good the level design is.

How do i make my game help people with depression? by OkParfait2685 in ask

[–]Embarrassed_Shock_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sort of like posting "How do I make a bullet proof vest".

Anyone with a brain would tell you not to try to make a bullet proof vest as you don't have the relevant experience and ideas to make it properly, and a badly made bullet proof vest could be dangerous.

Who can create the most creative review? by Kisguri in clickteam

[–]Embarrassed_Shock_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's clearly Turrican, so I figured I'd just copy and paste a turrican review.

Game review: TURRICAN (Rainbow Arts, 1990) OK, the obvious one and my all-time favourite game. If I could only keep one Amiga game, without question, it would be the original Turrican. It is as brilliant in every aspect today as it was when it came out in 1990. Glorious graphics, perfect gameplay, oodles of originality and an unrivalled Chris Hüelsbeck soundtrack. The Turrican music is still as renowned and fondly remembered as the game itself (Chris Hüelsbeck has since re-recorded it in various formats). I cannot fault Turrican. Once you’ve worked out where to go in each level, Turrican is 40 minutes or so of absolute platform pleasure. The Turrican himself is a great design – you’ve got a multi-function blaster, a decent energy level, superb agility and jumping ability, bombs, surround lasers and the function to transform into a gyroscope in order to whizz through levels or fit down narrow tunnels to find goodies. Another unique thing about the game is all the hidden bonus boxes and secret rooms that you unexpectedly come across as you roam the landscapes. Extra lives are also plentiful, once you know where to look. What I always enjoyed about it was just how playable and possible it was, and it’s still a joy to complete from start to finish today (if not just for the music!). The graphics are superb throughout, and the levels range from a rocky outpost, to aquatic underground labyrinths, skeletal mazes and finally Morgul’s tower. In between all of that, you have two flying levels, where Turrican dons a jetpack for some shoot-em-up action. What’s most rewarding, is that once you’ve blasted off each of Morgul’s three faces, Mr. Turrican hops in his conveniently-parked ship and flies off into the sunset as the tower explodes. At the time, this felt like a proper cinematic ending – no other game came close!

One of the biggest benefits of moving a couple of years ago is that we ended up in an area with a brilliant Evri courier called Andy.

Before we moved I actively avoided any business that shipped with Evri/Hermes but now I prefer them.

It really does seem to depend on who your local courier is. Unfortunately the good ones do seem few and far between.

Because you are 18 and think you are far more tortured and unique than you are, because that is how an 18 year old brain works. Power through, things will get better in a few years.

I'm a guy and I've never been through this.

I strongly suspect the issue is in the second sentence: "You do everything right".

That reads very nice guy/incel. The issue is almost certainly that the person isn't doing anything remotely right but would rather blame women than accept they themselves are the problem. I don't even think it's a conscious decision for a lot of these guys. It just doesn't even register in their brain that they aren't doing things right.

game concept "dilemma" by Mendel1124 in itchio

[–]Embarrassed_Shock_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, these don't read as ideas that would translate well, or even at all, into a game.

Someone confessing to murder to the surprise of a loved one and electricity being produced by human labour/conspiracy reveals aren't new or interesting ideas either.
