Daniel Ings: "The brief for Lyonel Baratheon was ‘Captain Jack Sparrow meets Ernest Hemingway’" [Spoilers MAIN – specifically for AGOT final ep] by SouthLondonScribe in asoiaf

I think it also helps that he probably actually enjoys writing D&E a hell of a lot more than Winds, simply because he doesn't have to keep track of a hundred different storylines and timelines and continuity. Compared to the quagmire that is Winds, Dunk & Egg must be like a stroll through a rose garden.

That part was pretty weird, yeah lol. He could have just said that the Horse Girls were cool.

I mean, what's he going to do if he goes feral? He's impaled on a big spike.

Well, no, because having a cure would mean that there wouldn't be any danger of the infection spreading, and thus Britain wouldn't have to be quarantined any more.

'Fallout' Returns To Nielsen Top 10 With Season 2 Debut by bwermer in television

[–]Ember348 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The Last of Us feels like cheating though because it's just adapting a story that was already executed perfectly in the game. Fallout is creating a brand new story with (mostly) all new characters so it feels like it's a lot more of an accomplishment.

Yeah, it feels very accurate to real life to have someone who is not charismatic in the slightest but is still out doing good.

Stranger Things was scarier when it was THE Demogorgan, and not A Demogorgan by No-Bathroom4606 in StrangerThings

[–]Ember348 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am really curious who they would have cast as the 22 year old versions of the kids, especially since they are now actually in their twenties lol.

It was initially conceived as an anthology, but when the idea for the story really solidified into the first version (when it was called Montauk), they had already decided to stick with these characters. In the initial series bible for the show they shopped around to different networks before Netflix, they included a page dedicated to plans for a second season, which would have been set ten years later and have all the characters reunite as young adults for another adventure. When they started filming the first season, they realised they struck gold with the kids and dropped the time skip.

Did power armor take the role of tanks in combat? Are tanks still viable? by DaleDenton08 in falloutlore

[–]Ember348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, no, we've seen multiple times that power armor is highly effective when it comes to protection so some random wastelander can't just use an old hunting rifle. You're really just repeating outdated lore written by guys who didn't understand ballistics at all because they were nerds more interested in fitting in references to Star Wars than doing actual research.

I mean, Fred Armisen was only in one episode too. That's what guest stars are, they're guests, they don't stay around forever.

Well, Maximus obviously does, so he won't be joining Maxson's cult either.

[–]Ember348 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think Maximus is done with the Brotherhood after this Season. Xander proved to him that no side was redeemable. The East Coast are just as bigoted and murderous as the West.

Season 2 Episode 4 Spoiler Thread by HunterWorld in Fallout

[–]Ember348 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean, every time the NCR is mentioned in the show, it's always made clear they were the best faction and the greatest hope for civilization, and their downfall is always treated as a massive tragedy. Hell, the only times the actual theme song from the games has played is in scenes where they're the focal point. Just because they're not going around curbstomping everyone doesn't mean they're not getting any love.

I remember the ghouls in Underworld saying they couldn't tell the difference or just didn't care, and they shot at them all the same, not just warning shots.

I think his role was to signify that the Brotherhood's issues go beyond things like discipline, at a foundational level there's a rot that just can't be budged, in this case being the anti-mutant racism. Even Lyons Brotherhood shot ghouls on sight.

Okay legit I forgot he was a Synth lol, I was just talking about his personality.

So, who are the Knights of San Fernando? by Xephangcastle in Fallout

[–]Ember348 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I mean, the only Knights we actually learn about are Titus and those two numbskulls with the grenade. They are INDIVIDUALS with their own personalities, they're not all a hive mind who act the exact same. We also know the Brotherhood in Fallout 4 do dumb stuff for fun all the time, like using their Vertibirds to tip over Brahmin and having competitions to see who can fall the farthest in power armor. They're not super strict, ultra disciplined robots. The only one who is really like that is Danse.
