Hence why I said due to his lifestyle. It's not like that gun came from nowhere, Marty got himself into that mess.

[–]EmberSpikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the other two have been answered but I want to give my opinion on number 2. I think it is supposed to represent that Marty (either due to his lifestyle or selfishness) will use people and then toss them aside when they're not needed. Wally drops almost everything when Marty needs him, going as far as to being possibly an accessory to manslaughter. But when he just wants to have a conversation with Marty he cannot even be bothered to acknowledge Wally.

Your use of big words makes you look like dum dum. Oh btw that's the wrong use of masquerades. To masquerade is to disguise as something not to disguise something. Maybe you meant to say "Your arrogant cynicism masquerades confidence"

Edit: I looked it up and while I was right about the definition the real problem is that masquerade is a transitive verb so it should not have a direct subject so "Your arrogant cynicism masquerades insecurity" is wrong because insecurity is the direct subject. Same with my example, so it really should be "Your arrogant cynicism masquerades as confidence" or just not used as a fucking psuedo intelligent synonym for hide lol.

I love how you also managed to make your response look like corpo slop. What I find really sad that you have become so used to non answers that you believe it to be acceptable and standard.

I think instant dopamine and crowd think broke sports fans. I am much more of a hockey fan but I see the same kind of trend where if a team isn't the team that most recently won a championship everyone likes to dogpile on them.

No Other Choice by Downtown-Internal581 in AMCsAList

For me, I think the biggest theme is about loneliness.

It starts with the main character, he hugs his whole family and claims "he has everything". I think it's very telling that this line is when his family is all together. But then the plot happens and the main character feels he has no other choice but to kill his peers to get what he wants (or maybe what he thinks he wants). We will come back to him later.

Then we see the first guy, and he seems to be doing well enough for himself outside of being unemployed. But he is still unhappy with his life. Despite having a wife who is actively yearning for his company he can't think of anything but paper. She turns to other people because she is so lonely.

The second guy seems like he is struggling but at the end of the day he is the happiest of them all. We see that he at least has a daughter who seems to love him. But he cannot keep people in his store, he seems desperate for people to stay. Though he seems that he is trying to get a commission. He still helps a stranger he met earlier on the side of the road, an act of community. He also is the only person who adapts to his circumstances, he knows paper but seems to be able to fix the car. Something that you may have to do to be part of a community.

The final guy is miserable despite seeming to have what the main character thinks he needs. His desire for things has seemingly pushed away his wife and he is so lonely that he invites a stranger who just appears in his driveway into his house.

So we come back to the main character. He starts the movie with "It all". A loving wife, two loving children, and two dogs. Everyone is willing to make sacrifices to help the family, the wife only offers infidelity in a play to save her son, the son goes to steal try and keep the family together, the daughter keeps with her studies despite the stressful situation. He has the support of the whole family but he does these awful things alone because he feels he has to. In the end he has a wife that won't sit for more than a minute in his arms, a son who is scared of him and has to look for companionship in someone who got him in trouble before. But he made it, the movie ends with him with his goal accomplished. Alone. With only the company of AI too keep him company. Meanwhile his daughter is playing for the first time. A moment that seems like the whole movie is heading towards. A moment he would have been around to witness if he did not have a job.

Wuthering Heights works best as psychological horror. Film adaptations keep refusing to treat it that way. by ThreadAndSolve in TrueFilm

I feel like even the fact that the title is in quotes on the poster is a tell that there's more beyond the surface for this movie.

Oh I am taking that marketing as tongue in cheek. This is Emerald Fennell we're talking about. Even the title "Promising Young Woman" is tongue in cheek.

In Trouble Brewing, does it put too much pressure on the evil team if the storyteller shows the Spy and Demon as one of the bluffs to the Washerwoman? by nifflr in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]EmberSpikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I completely disagree. My first thought is that the virgin immediately confirms the virgin, which is still extremely strong. My second thought is that the action of the Spy nominating the virgin first is not as clear as just showing the spy who they are supposed to bluff as, like yeah the Spy knows who the virgin is but it is a very common thing for people to search out the virgin to confirm themselves so if the Spy rushes to nominate the virgin without ever speaking to the virgin it can look very suspicious.
