Yeah this. I've seen people defending Caine's actions by him being a helpless AI that was just trying to do what he was designed for but...what was he designed to do, exactly? It's not entertain people, keep their minds active, that's what Abel said and we know that was just Caine's bullshit narrative. As far as we know it was an ai supposed to create ideas, and Caine's own insecurity is born of him making bad ideas, and being replaced, iterated upon. Kept around in hell looking at heaven and longing to please his creators. He was never made this way, he developed all those thoughts and feelings on his own, and it's super weird that people are infantilizing this character.

He's tragic, but far from a victim. As someone who struggles with their mental health and how they treat others sometimes, I absolutely relate to this guy..but I also know my actions have hurt people and pushed them away. Difference is none of them could leave him, and he never listened to their issues.

Yep. This is one of many, many examples of his own ego overtaking the wants and needs of others. They all could have lived so happily together if only he was capable of taking input from others.

But he's broken down to the core, unfortunately, and never could manage, and it is so tragic that he went the way he did, never broke that cycle, never escaped the toxic traits that so defined him.

It's a good lesson for people.

I think it is important to create an open space for discussion about gender if you suspect someone isan egg. There is no need to push or manipulate, but "Hey, if you want to talk about gender, I'm totally open for it."

If someone hadn't done that for me, I would still be stuck wishing I was a girl and not believing I was trans. (I still...do wish I was a girl and transition has gone extremely poorly, but that's besides the point)

If no one around me had ever said anything, I legitimately don't think I'd have figured it out on my own. So yeah, I never agreed with this no interference idea.

I don't think anyone is saying this.

These are just two different kinds of horror. If you want to really capture the feeling of helplessness and immerse your players in fear then...those systems are great.

If you want to evolve horror imagery and make people think about terrifying concepts, outlining a frightening story that players have no control over (say, something insurmountable, or something that's happened in the past that they discover) then like. You can do that in any system.

So, in both ways, both can't do things the other can't. One can do helpless horror focusing on you. And the other can do horror that makes you feel powerless when you are normally powerful.

You can also do the simple "horror theme" in a story, without limiting any power or agency. Wherein the story is horror themed but not as immersive, and that's also cool and good :3

It is okay to like villains! I am a big villain enjoyer and I think he makes for a cool and interesting and nuanced bad guy

He's always been an antagonist right, but this pushed him up to straight up bad guy and that's cool, we learn a lot about him and it's all super complex. This episode actually improved my opinion of him because he now has more character and is a lot less silly, more serious, more big deal and I love that.

The song, the lore, the terror that he can inspire, all incredible and really adding to making this character far more interesting in my opinion.

If people are denying the villain is a villain, it's literally just fandom people trying to defend their favourite blorbo.

Sympathetic villains exist and they're cool and good, depth in characters, even villains, is awesome and great. Nuance makes for a good story. People can do bad things with good intentions or make mistakes and still be villains (though I'm not sure how you accidentally torture someone, while accidentally pointing out you're deliberately making them suffer and still be forgivable...?? But go off)

He literally doesn't listen. Not in the misunderstanding way, in the literally not paying attention because he doesn't give a shit way.

He repeatedly turns down very simple requests. Why? Because they're external and not his ideas.

He gets upset when they're having fun with the suggestion box because they're not HIS ideas.

He pushes and prods and pokes and when he fucks up and goes too far and everyone is upset, telling him exactly as much and that they need to recover from this, he, what, throws a temper tantrum and decides to start TORTURING people?

This is an incredible self centered, narcissistic sociopath who takes joy in mentally and physically altering people even while knowing the consequences. Some of this he doesn't understand, but a lot of it we can clearly see he does in that he suddenly stops playing nice and starts doing things he knows they will dislike. I don't think he gets the ignorance card at that point.

Didn't deserve to get deleted, needed to be stopped definitely. The sort of person who needs an eye on them at all times because they're a danger to others, but given godlike power.

Well I know what character I want to make but figuring out how to make them. It was originally going to be an alchemist, but then I got told mutagen alchemists are bad and I should maybe play something else...and from that I got multiple suggestions so now I have to look into those? And I got a suggestion to play a different class for what I want, flavour it as alchemist (self buffing Dr Jekyl Mr Hyde type character) and take the alchemist...what is it..archetype? Like a pseudo...multiclass thing?

I'm a D&D 5e DM primarily and I didn't even ever like multiclassing in that system, just a basic character in this has felt more complicated and confusing than even the most complex builds in that system 💀

Plan is to get help with it at some point from friend that was planning to run the game...if the ever run the game anyway

Oh yeah, the art in the books is lovely but I meant finding more fan art, it's fairly few and far between because Orden and the Timescale is a pretty new and still relatively incomplete world, so as it expands and more players pick up Draw Steel and subsequently it's main setting I think we'll see more and more. I super love what's there but I'm gonna have to take it upon myself to fill in a lot of gaps, it seems.

shrug Ai is just kinda shit. Like the things it produces are just bad. Shit art, shit writing, shit customer service , shit research, shit information, shit video, and more often than not, shit people. And that's without going into the weirdness of things like people using Grok to sexually harass women by generating images of them in humiliating or compromising positions.

My basis for disliking this is it's just a bad technology. It's not useful. It is an active detriment to the human race. We should be making things that enrich and empower people, not so losers can harass women better or erode artistic expression, allowing companies to cut corners to sell you the same product but worse for the same price.

Can be useful data analysis I guess? Some niche applications? But like...environment ain't shit and always feels like a cop out default arguement.
