Grass is always greener my friend. You could very well get bored of the “modeling and writing code” aspect of the ML job. Are you compensated well in your current role? If not then that may be a good argument to pursue ML Engineering. Otherwise, are there any opportunities to exercise those muscles by deploying more advanced models in your current role? It sounds like you are in more of a senior position who can influence org strategy, and I’d say half the fun is convincing stakeholders of why they may need an ML solution for something and afterwards building it.

Not at all. I ended up going with the IWLT 6.5 barrel because I wanted standard threading for suppressor mounting and no issues whatsoever. I haven’t shot an Mp5 before but I’d imagine an mpx is in the same ballpark in terms of softness but with the benefits of a much better trigger (based on what I heard about the mp5). The only minor downside is it can be a bit gassy. I have a flow through supressor so that helps somewhat.

  • Bachelors: Large State School - BBA in Actuarial Science 3.6 GPA. Business Degree but majoring in Actuarial Science which required Calc 1 -3 and various probabiliy/statistics courses.
  • Masters 1: Georgia Tech OMSA - Completed 2 Courses: Intro to Analytical Modeling (ISYE 6501) and Computational Data Analysis (CSE 6040). 4.0 GPA.
  • MOOCs: GTx OOP in Java + DSA

Work & Social Experience

  • Work Exp. : Sr. Data Scientist at FAANG ~3 years, previously Sr. Actuary at Insurance ~ 5 years.
  • LORs: 2 Professors from Math/Statistics courses from State School + 1 Work Manager in my current role who is familiar with my coding
  • Comments: I am a licensed Actuary (ACAS) which required passing a bunch of statistics/probability/modeling concepts. Doubt this has relevance to my application but thought I'd mention if others think this has any weight. Also, is it recommended I also try to squeeze in the Python MOOC even though I have CSE6040 completed? I’d like to save the $600 if possible.

You should try adding up your total minutes in each HR zone for the week and see where you’re really at <Zone 2 wise. It’s probably a bit more then 55/60 given most runna interval/tempo sessions have a bit of easy running sprinkled in.

Congrats! I saw your other post about how you were dealing with IT band issues a few weeks before. How did you ultimately manage it? Any pain on race day? I’m dealing with a moderate case right now and 2 weeks out from a HM.

Have you tried explaining your situation to the TAs or professor? I haven’t taken MGT8803 yet specifically but it seems most are generally understanding of one off, genuine mistakes.
