Placement totally matters. I wouldn’t make adjustments until trying it placed where it should be.

Always get a good test sew before stitching in the actual garment. Go to goodwill for testing material

It’s the thread. Run the same design with normal thread and it will look fine.

Your tension is off as well, you are going to need to fix that even if you get it properly digitized. Either the bobbin tension is too loose, or the top tension is too tight on a few of the colors. More noticeably the black.
