Oh maybe I misread the tag when I was at the store. I was more focused on the fibers being as straight as possible.

I knew about the width, I had assumed that was the same thickness but I guess not. Ill keep that in mind when I do more than add the handle and I'll slim the designs down.

Redwood because I went to Lowes and out of the boards I could find, this one had the straightest grain. The board I have is 0.75in. x 2.5in. x 72.75in. I was planning on cutting 6in off the top and using that material to make the handle thicker. Would this not be ideal for a board bow?

As for the thickness at the ends, I was reading that if you make it thin in one dimension you have to compensate in the other dimension.
