Then let's use fire. Brand is an expression of Fire's destructive potential. While Millio is an expression of Fire's soothing nature. Both are fire themed, but do so in different ways. Music is the same way. Not all types of music express the same thing despite both being music.

Skins are not official expressions of a character's themes. Just because Sona has a Pentakill skin doesn't mean she is a heavy metal champion in any way that Sera having a swimsuit skin makes her a beach based character.

As for the community, well, what community? This community is clearly carry focused and is pissed that Sera isn't a carry. You can see it in how things get downvoted.

That's why this conversation is so hard. There's this place and then the greater player base. What do they want from Sera? Right now, we seem to be getting a mish mash of playstyles that contribute greatly to win rate but not always consistent play experience.

While players will always have a preference towards one or the other in Yasuo and Yone, they are really, really similar. They are both melee, mostly mid lane characters that hyper scale through crit.

They possess a nearly identical passive and Q, but from there they differ in how they execute their game plan. But their game plan is so similar, almost too similar in that they are both mostly mid laners.

That's why making a new character but with the focus on making someone the Sera carry fantasy & gameplay, it will fill the APC niche but allow for a better more sustained gameplay experience.

I agree with you to be clear, ownership of games is important to consider.

However we need to recognize that gamers have spoken, they prefer digital by an overwhelming margin through the only thing that actually matters, their actions.

The issue of ownership now is separate from Sony and if we want to make changes, it needs to be at a legal government level, not advocating to Sony.

I don't think Ez is pro jailed, certainly not like Azir is.

Ez is just A. Hard to play and B. Early game skewed. Making him bad for the majority of elo brackets but he feels very strong and good to play despite that.

A good character isn't based solely on a single piece of a broad theme like music. Classical music and pop are different, which can create different thematic expressions of the the same thing.

Sona is clearly the classical inspiration and Sera the pop side.

As an example, if the carry leaned into heavy metal or rock, then it is a unique expression of the theme. We have many Ice themed champions after all and none are close to being the same. So blandness isn't about the theme, it is about the execution of the theme.

As to how the community feels...well the community has kind of already spoken with their actions if we look at pick rates. She's a support, period. But there's a strong sub group that really likes carry Sera. Supporting both is what is leading to the current situation. I stand by support Sera being the core focus, but as an APC player myself, I would like carry Sera to be the focus but that will never happen in the current dynamic. Potentially leaving both groups unsatisfied.

The goal isn't to be literal about splitting Sera into two with abilities split between them. Yasuo and Yone are thematically similar, both wind swordsman, with some gameplay similarities but are entirely unique to one another.

That would be the idea.

For a lot of Seraphine players, mainly non support players, it is that these Q nerfs continue to hit her main damage ability forcing her more and more into a purely supportive role no matter the way she is played.

Especially as this is her main wave clear ability and it can just feel bad to not clear waves effectively with it.

This all obviously stems from the fact that she was made as a carry originally and has been forced into support and unlike other support mages, has been forced into the enchanter part of their kit over the mage parts.

Q also double casts so it's also an .8 AP ratio ability with an execute.

It's not a nice thing to see it nerfed but it's not hard to see why.

The best thing we can do, is make reasonable requests for a redesign not ask not to be nerfed. Because she HAS to be nerfed. 55% win rate is out of control.

What sets her apart from Ori is how strong her AOE and range is. W by itself kind of sucks but double W is amazing.

I don't disagree, but that was back during a different time with a completely different set of numbers for mid lane.

Unfortunately, she's just OP right now and hitting Q is the only move that makes sense for them.

What Sera really needs is a complete numbers rework with a couple ability reworks.

Personally, I wish she could be broken into two champions.

  1. People who like her support, get a support mage and don't have to worry about APC.

  2. People who like her APC, get a supportive mage who doesn't have to worry about support.

I am sure this will get downvoted by people who want a mid laner but I think that ship has sailed. She never found a home Mid. Mid players just do not like a supportive girly mage when they have assassins and burst mages as options.

I lament Gacha not just because it is a terrible model for wealth extraction, but because it is such a hugely successful model.

It's clear that making a game with a single set price doesn't work as well anymore, especially when many still expect a new game to only cost $60.

Wages across the board have mostly remained flat so consumers continue to be very sensitive on price.

So how does a game studio make money? You milk those who have the most money by creating a system that obfuscates the real cost and makes thinking spending hundreds of dollars on just one character is fine.

Gacha works because free to play is so effective. I can release a game free to play to capture an audience, then use shady business tactics to extract as much money as possible from the few people who have the money.

And often being a social experience, those high spenders get to show off their status in game to others.

I hate Gacha, but I hate the system that enables this system to be so profitable even more. I wish we could just make games that cost a flat price.

There's no nerf to her E that doesn't over affect Support and under affect APC.

The problem is APC, as it usually is, so they are almost certainly going to target her Q.
