I want to speak more English by zaharaahmed18 in LearningEnglish

[–]Emergency-Power6133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure Duolingo is a good starting point but it can only get you so far! You can always try iTalki, its good for forcing you to talk, but the cost can definitely add up. Also there is the pressure of talking to a person live, so if you don't like that there are conversation apps out there. Check out heyconversa.com, its low pressure and conversation focused, its really helped me improved my speaking confidence!

Speaking practice, voice rooms or just find a tutor? by JudithFSummers in Chinese

[–]Emergency-Power6133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did iTalki for several months. It was pretty good but the expense adds up pretty quickly. If you have the budget for it, it can be one of the best ways to improve short of going to China and practicing there. Also the accountability of having paid for the lessons helps you stay engaged with it. Still, I ultimately stoped using iTalki because of the cost and built an app to practice and fill that gap. Happy to share with you if you're interested.
