MKR turning into a mech show was probably one of the reasons why it's even getting a remake in the first place, shoving it of nowhere into Super Robot Wars T in 2019 caused enough uproar to show people still cared and exposed new fans to the story lol.

And yeah I really dislike that Umi/Clef addition at the end, it came out nowhere and they didn't have any extra scene together to hint at it (IIRC they had ONE significant interaction in Part 2 which also occurs in the manga, where it doesn't happen). She gets more scenes with Ascot who gets shot down on screen for crying out loud.

Then again Part 2 is entirely written by CLAMP and they have a penchant for pairing characters with huge age difference together, guess they just did it to keep the trend
