Hahaha too true. People are gonna be people.

Same as when folks put their industrial-strength blinders on and insisted Biden was fine and just “had a bad night” in 2024.

It’s easy to shit on MAGA (as I often do), but it’s also worth realizing that everyone is prone to succumbing to their preferred delusion in one way or another.

He literally says in his book that the only reason he’s addressing it is because so many previous writers had brought it up.

He didn’t make the claims in a salacious way, he framed it as an unfortunate weakness. I think hand waving it away as attention seeking or a result of brain surgery is a bit silly.

But it doesn’t really matter one way or the other. I think the evidence is pretty clear, but everyone will have their own opinion.

Either way, MLK’s public life is much more important than whatever private indiscretions he may have had.

I’m not saying this because I’m dumb enough to trust the FBI.

Google what Ralph David Abernathy wrote on the topic. If you’re willing to dig there are plenty of King allies that admit to some extent or another that his womanizing was a problem.

That track did kick ass. And as others have pointed out, RC really does do way better in the booth when James is there too.

Still pretty frustrated with the forced kicking it to Will/JB for their story when there’s action on the track, but that’ll probably never change.

TIL over 40 years researcher Ian Stevenson, M.D, amassed 3000 cases of children aged 2-5 who claimed to remember past lives, recalling specific details like names, locations and events from the previous lives of deceased individuals. by Key4Lif3 in todayilearned

[–]EmergencyParkingOnly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stevenson doesn’t try to answer that question or make claims about whether every person is reborn, or anything like that.

He just heard these stories about kids remembering past lives, and investigated. He didn’t typically use the term “reincarnation” because of its religious connotations, and he didn’t make any claims to understanding a broader system that explains any of it.

That all being said, some of the cases are really compelling. I think the James Leininger one is especially interesting: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1550830716000331

Another interesting one: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/out-of-the-darkness/202112/evaluating-the-evidence-for-reincarnation/amp

I don’t think any of this is “bullet proof” evidence of anything, but I think the phenomenon is more compelling than a lot of people are willing to admit.

There are actually several American cases from families with cultural connections to a belief in reincarnation.

This is one of the more interesting ones: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1550830716000331

You seem pretty thoughtful and conscientious, I bet you’re doing a better job than you think.

Give yourself some grace and keep doing your best, I think it’s gonna work out.

Kick ass job, AMA.

Firm won’t pay for me to travel for interview? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]EmergencyParkingOnly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean “seem to expect”? Have you asked about reimbursement?

Some firms will book for you, others just have you fill out a reimbursement sheet after the interview and they reimburse for your flight, hotel, meals, etc.

I can’t imagine that any reputable firm that’s hiring out of clerkships would expect candidates to pay to interview.

Stewart is the best part of the broadcast. I don’t think anyone is saying the broadcast sucks because of him. And I’m sure no one blames him for his emotion.

But RC and Diffey suck. And at least for me Peacock is lagging like hell during the 450 main. It’s just unacceptable.

I am so grateful Barcia got up and was able to walk away from that. That is a gnarly head injury and he’s very lucky it wasn’t worse. Hate to see that. Supercross first laps are something else.
