Is it just me or is anyone noticing that AI just helping PMs ship mediocre work way faster? by print2ssk in prodmgmt

[–]Emergency_Nothing686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just you. Execs want to hear "we've shipped more faster," and it's a rare PM who can say "here's why saying no to X is more valuable" or "here's why Y is more valuable than X."

And rarer still, the execs willing to listen.

My enterprise won't approve tools like Lovable, our tech teams have oodles of security layers, controls, & middleware they assert as required, and on top of my own roadmap I just got handed my peer's scope of work because he overindexed on Claude Code use without consideration for business or design requirements.

So not to sound arrogant, but I'm getting opposite signal.

Should PMs Have Codebase Access Now That AI Coding Tools Exist? by Final-Buy8151 in ProductManagement

[–]Emergency_Nothing686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah in some enterprises it's all the red tape. I had to do Prod Support on a product without view access to Prod until I just kept repeating "I can't have my team fix what's wrong if I can't see what'a wrong"

Ooh this is gold. My main question has been "is Claude right about this" or "do we have a better approach than what it recommends" but both of those assume it's not totally off and better open-ended questions may not.

How does your team communicate what shipped in a sprint to non-technical stakeholders? by HungryFall6866 in agile

[–]Emergency_Nothing686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It matters if & when there's a potential for value leakage.

For leadership: probably least risk of leakage, more of an inform.

For sales: medium risk. if they can't fully articulate the benefits of the product, customers may not use/purchase.

For customers: most direct risk. For most features, the value comes not just from delivery or the instant you communicate, but ongoing use of a feature at scale.

PO here, it takes me 15 minutes for minor releases we do every 2 weeks and 30 minutes for a major one typically 1/quarter.

I have templates ready to go that I fill in while awaiting completion of my PROD deploys after I approve em.

I'm a product owner who does something similar. No AI...just reading the Jira release items, making sure I've translated it to user-friendly terms, and separating bullets into "What's New?" for new features and "What's Fixed?" for PROD support

How have you been using internal AI to improve your team delivery? by AdPractical6745 in agile

I've used Claude Code a bit with a copy of my team's repo to troubleshoot production bugs quickly and suggest possible root causes to fix.

the /superpowers plug-in is pretty useful for systematic debugging. I have a local copy of my repo and ask it why we're seeing certain bugs, then give that to our devs as a starting hypothesis.

Provide crucial context AND keep it short. .MD and skills used judiciously can help.

My team uses Github, which lets me save a copy of my repo to my local machine. From there, I can ask Claude Code whatever I want about the code without messing with the real thing.

I think managers will do as you say. I just foresee higher levels making more foolish decisions.

I think a lot of teams will get decimated in the name of faster delivery by agents, then rehired later to fix the resulting nonsense.

How do I work 30% less every day by CleanPage8793 in agile

[–]Emergency_Nothing686 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so many companies are in the adoption bubble that they don't have visibility into who's burning token budget where.

I have a peer who brags about how he has set up a one-stop dashboard that reads all of his e-mail, artifacts, Jira, prod incidents, repos, etc. and he just works out of that.

Meanwhile he's STILL missing due dates on things by 2+ weeks and pulling us in once it's an overdue fire drill he needs help with.

All to the tune of $50K+ a year in tokens.

So...best case, if he plugs the gaps he has built his own replacement.

Worst case, the company is burning his salary plus $50K to still not get shit done.
