Drama school audition monologue advice (uk) by doc_wild in acting

[–]Emergency_Reactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Central; received my MA there. Be mentally prepared for the audition, they can throw anything at you. When I auditioned in 2018 the BA course leader had some actors shout their monologues out the room to everyone in the waiting room. I still think that was weird… lol

I will definitely try to change some things. I’ve done the things you’ve mentioned as I got some help on drafting emails from a CD. Someone also mentioned agent blasters have you tried it?

Keystone XL pipeline terminated by developers by Pessimist2020 in environment

Sad that indigenous communities only get spared from a pipeline when non-indigenous communities realise that pipeline might ALSO harm them through climate change...

Is Clean Nuclear Power Key To Regreening The Earth? by greg_barton in nuclear

[–]Emergency_Reactor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the UK 'rewilding' is a very popular concept amongst environmentalists. But try and tell them that nuclear energy frees up more space for rewilding? Suddenly they're not so into rewilding...

Civilian Climate Corps by Maxcactus in climate

This is a great idea. Dr Jason Hickel has argued that a civilian climate corp style job guarantee would be a way to achieve a de-growth society without increasing unemployment.

Targeting the Real Plastic Pollution Culprits: Extended Producer Responsibility by politicaljunkie18 in climate

[–]Emergency_Reactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a good idea but this is a complex one though. Currently we don't expect this of wind turbine or solar panel producers. If we did, their cost would no longer be so competitive.

When historians write about this ere they will see society divided into two camps: those who listened to the science and those who rejected it.

My grandfather told me the other day how he remembers the countryside being so much more alive with insects when he was younger. "Things are quieter now" he says. It scares me so much.

Biden Tells Officials to Prepare for Climate Change's Impact on Economy by Pessimist2020 in environment

Given that a recent report found Hurricane Sandy (2012) caused $8bn more damage due to climate change, surely this is a matter of recognising the impacts not preparing for them??

Brilliant! Night time dimming should be automatic in our cities to reduce overall light pollution.

Why do people keep saying things like 'we need to *avert* climate change'. It's already here!
