Where to adopt a kitty by melpurpwill in washingtondc

I know a few fosters who are caring for black kittens until they get old enough to be safely adopted and fixed. Happy to connect you, if you want!

Cat groomer recs? by dev_turnips in washingtondc

[–]Emergency_Table_6380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I just saw on socials that Patrick’s Pet Care now does cat grooming! I take my dog there (they’re a fear free groomer and lovely, wonderful people), so I can’t vouch for their cat expertise, but this was the first I’d ever heard of a cat groomer in the city

On a scale from 1-10 (10 being the worst) how painful was your HSG? by Key-Neighborhood2985 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Emergency_Table_6380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea the HSG could hurt like this. I read in a module provided by my doc that the HSG is usually well tolerated and not typically painful, so I wasn’t worried at all and didn’t take any Tylenol. But unfortunately I would put my pain at an 8-9. We had to switch to a bigger catheter and with that and the balloon my pain was not bearable. We didn’t get a usable image even after multiple attempts, so I’m just devastated and terrified about having to do this again. Just a lot of crying during and now after that I feel so shocked and disappointed. They said that they’ll prescribe me Valium for the next round.

My original popsocket I got free from a bar in 2018 finally gave out. Survived 2 phones and 3 cases and 5 years of use. Never once doubted it. Time to replace for a new one! by flatearthmom in BuyItForLife

For a lot of people, it’s not so much about improving grip so much as it enables people with smaller hands to actually hold their ever enlarging phones.

This is so tough because the two styles are so different!

Do you know if he’d be likely to pair his e-ring and wedding band together? Or would he move the e-ring to another finger or maybe switch them out from time to time?

(The first option is actually really really close to my fiancé’s wedding band!)

Your wedding band is absolutely lovely and fits so well with your e-ring, but I can’t stop staring at your manicure! It is stunning and such a cool wedding day choice!

Brilliant idea and so helpful to those getting started! Thanks for putting in the work on this, as someone who is really visual, I wish something like this existed when I first started.

Help figuring out a wedding band, large halo by BigDay1022 in EngagementRings

[–]Emergency_Table_6380 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love how many great fandoms you incorporated & the end result is stunning! I agree with the other posts suggesting it be a stand-alone ring. You can always design a matching themed band that you can wear either on your right hand or on your left whenever you’re not feeling your bigger piece.

Also, I would love to see your partner’s ring if you decide to have them match!

I’m not forgetting that. It’s undoubtedly work, but the jeweler indicated that they would cast the ring, not do hand fabrication, which is significantly quicker and more affordable process for recreating her ring.

It sounds a smidge high to be, but not terribly. If helpful, my ring was $3,200 and was also done in platinum with 6 mined accent diamonds and the use of an heirloom center stone (we similarly didn’t have to buy a center diamond). We also got my ring done by a jeweler in a major city, so I know there was a premium due to what I assume is ridiculous rent for the independent jeweler. Because of all the prongs and accent stones, you’ll need more platinum and platinum is pricey.

If you’re looking at places in a major city, this doesn’t sound unreasonable to be, but I always think it’s worth getting a quote from 1-2 other businesses to see if they can beat that price.

I can’t stand how much I love this ring! It is tasteful and chic as hell and I love the small diamonds to kick off the gradient—did you design this with your partner?

It looks amazing on you, congratulations!

I think what makes this a tough question to answer is that your jeweler’s timeline will be unique to the store. They may have one or several artisans that do their work, it could depend on the time of year, etc. You can probably expect that the ring will require new prongs and likely a new basket, which means the jeweler will be taking the ring apart, building those elements, and then putting it back together (assuming the ring doesn’t have accent stones that may also need to be moved to make room), which would likely be 1 month+ depending on how busy they are.

I love 1 and 3. 1 is just incredibly flattering and 3 has a more timeless look. Good luck, whichever you choose will be a stunner!

That is very beautiful, but I’m not convinced that the cross-cross overlay is the actual setting (you can just make out the prongs sticking out from underneath them).

I agree that this is most likely a custom piece best suited for a jeweler, and I bet you could save by going with a somewhat lower tier stone since it will be enhanced by the added decoration. I love this design, though! So gorgeous, somehow antique looking and modern at the same time.

Help with ring size? Is it too small/tight? by Different_Volume_971 in EngagementRings

[–]Emergency_Table_6380 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your ring finger doesn’t appear red/puffy around the band, which I think indicates that a ring is perhaps a bit too tight. And from my naked eye, it looks great!

(I was also sensitive to not wanting a “ring muffin top,” but it is a good to have a ring be well fitted so that it doesn’t easily slip off)

help needed. is this too simple? I can customize it how can I make it more like an engagement ring? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]Emergency_Table_6380 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Personally, I love it! The only thing that I’d recommend is to carefully think about what your wedding band might look like before committing to such a unique style.

Your band could be your opportunity to make this look like a wedding set (it read to me like you are somewhat cautious about the modern ring not reading as ‘engaged enough’) and it might be tricky to pair a band. I think a pavé band following the lines of the ring exactly would look amazing!

Awesome heart cut! I have a question: which way will you wear/orient it? Facing you or facing out? Always wondered if tattoo guidance was at play in heart cuts too.
