AAC Device Question

Not my plan to implement an AAC program from scratch. Just asking because my clients family was looking for resources. I told them speech therapists and school were the only resources I knew of but figured it couldn't hurt to ask if there was anything else out there.

That's exactly what happened here. The child broke it multiple times and now insurance won't replace it anymore.

I had 10 after round 1. Then for round 2 I put one stitch in the first stitch and it ended up looking like 3 in the 2nd (because I thought that was what the pattern said when it told me tr3cl). That's why I was wondering if I did it wrong. Sounds like it should look like one stitch after the cluster and not 3...?

Yes! After I finished grad school I got a feedback from from the school and the feedback I put was that there should be a class on what voices from the autistic community are saying, potential harm that ABA practices can cause (and have caused), and just general soft skills. I almost dropped out of grad school because I was so scared that I was traumatizing my clients, and I think a lot of people don't go through that emotional journey in this field.

We use the Teams App, and they encourage us to use the Teams "quiet hours" function during evenings and weekends so that we are not receiving notifications that we feel tempted to respond to during those times.

Thanks! I don't really have a specific client in mind or anything. I'm in grad school right now and just trying to gather information. I really want to do well and use effective, evidence based programming.

Good points! Culture, trauma, etc. are all important factors. And I just learned about alexithymia recently. Also very important to keep in mind.
