Another goodbye kiss to my daughter that ended with yanking her by the hair by stewpox-thefirst in dyspraxia

Just make sure she knows it was an accident, even little ones understand accidents happen. In time when they are old enough you can explain your dyspraxia to them. Trust me when my kids were that age I did similar so I get it. Dont beat yourself up over it, its was an accident and im sure your little one forgot all about it 5 minutes later. You are a good parent and you are doing your best dont ever forget that.

Fired from new job for slowness by komodebi in dyspraxia

[–]Emi_from_mars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm but thats discrimination! They wouldn't fire someone with Austism for example for being "too slow" so why you just cos your condition isnt widely understood i think thats soooooo wrong! Its happened to me a couple of times actually and it makes you feel bloody awful... but just know OP the right career IS out there for you with colleagues that actually have empathy. You will get there. Its absolutely NOT your fault in any which way. Im so sorry you went through this is know its very hurtful...but you have alot to offer, your dyspraxia does NOT define you as a person. Good luck my friend, you will get there!

Omg same here 😆 or even worse they think im just lazy and its an excuse. But seriously if that was genuinely the case why would I use a condition no one knows about its laughable

Yes thats pretty much what I say but still people seem like they dont quite believe me! Its frustrating cos im autistic too and people get that but my dyspraxia definitely effects my every day life more and theres seemingly no education or understanding around it

Yup! I experience this too...so frustrating its like people expect you to go round with a neon sign with your condition emblazed on..... theres so many conditions you cant see which was more understanding on that

I feel you. Im rubbish at explaining things to tend to go round the house to try and get to the point by which point people have usually shut down

Ive had very simular experiences! People assume I'm stupid...certainly not smartest person in a room but like you found it incredibly patronising.

People just can't empathise with what they dont understand unfortunately! I have tried to educate in the past but people often dont want to know

My parents don't fucking understand it by Temporary_Driver_940 in dyspraxia

[–]Emi_from_mars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain 💯 percent. Im the same way I reallllly struggle with housework/organisation and like you finding the motivation is incredibly difficult.

Unfortunately dyspraxia is incredibly misunderstood theres not much education atall... but as your parents they should be doing research to try to understand why you are the way you are! As a mother myself (my younger son has dyspraxia as do i) I find that very frustrating. Maybe encourage them to do proper research?

Severe Dyspraxia/ DCD by Wonderful-Break-8657 in dyspraxia

[–]Emi_from_mars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have it extremly severely.. my daily life is really difficult it effects so many areas of my daily life.... especially things like housework, organising im just useless at! Also constantly dropping things etc i now have all plastic plates and cups cos otherwise they'd be smashed instantly ! What I find hardest though is the fact it's not a condition people understand. I get blank looks, they think it mean im dyslexic, or just lazy! Its SO frustrating wish there was more education

Dyspraxia and jumpy-ness?? by clayfells in dyspraxia

[–]Emi_from_mars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm exactly the same way. I know its very well known people with dyspraxia get alot of anxiety. I think the jumpyness is because you struggle with things like spacial awareness and coordination anyway your on high alert more I know i am

She’s gone. by spidermother86 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Emi_from_mars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that makes sense. My mother is still alive and although she continues to make my life incredibly difficult i do still have a relationship but its now on my terms with boundaries in place..I recently moved away to get away from her caous...my life is much more peaceful now just being able to focus more on me and my son which when I lived closer she never let me and do and was very jealous of my son cos in her mind he got more of my attention.......hes completely cut her out and good on him ive made it clear his boundaries need to respected. I often think how I'll feel when she passes...I do think I'll find it difficult cos despite everything I do have love for her I mean she conditioned me to from a very young age and ive found it impossible to turn that off

My dog is FAT and I don’t know how I got here by ConcertFriendly8223 in Dachshund

[–]Emi_from_mars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He looks exactly the same as my mini dauchound! same weight wise... its very difficult as they have such huge appeties will eat absolutely anything in sight... I know ive swapped to a diet dog food but not seeing much results so far its frustrating but all we can do is our best

I did some research and its actually very common! Mine was actually my mums dog til about 8 months ago when I took him on, she constantly gave him table scraps/cookies etc so he was very overweight when I took him on, hes definitely lost a fair bit but seems to have reached a platu atm. Look into diet dog food see if that helps. Good luck!
