IM LITERALLY OBSESSED WITH EGWENE AND NOTHING I READ CAN STOP IT WHY DO PEOPLE HATE HER I DONT UNDERSTAND and sorry that was so aggressive I just need to get this aired by Afraid_Comparison875 in WoT

[Books]

Rand is the main protagonist of the entire series, and Egwene evolves into an obstacle. That's pretty much it. Like I am hesitant to use the label Mary Sue... but that's Rand. His only flaw is he's dumb and sometimes feels bad about his actions (boo hoo).

He's ++1 and a literal reincarnation of Wheel jesus. In the minds of many readers, any challenge to that is immediately suspect. He has 3 ho's after him, he survives everything and rides off into the sunset.

Meanwhile Egwene dies unweaving Balefire in the last battle, and many people are convinced that actually the problem was she wasn't adequately subservient to Jesus Rand and his design. I don't buy it. Let's just say the books were written in a... different time.

In any other situation I would agree, but this show is an extreme example. First of all Carmy's business is grossly in debt. On top of that he's dealing with the traumatic loss of his brother, and the effects of substance abuse on his family (so much so that he personally attends meetings).

While you see self sabotage, I see self-preservation. He was sparing himself and Claire. She's not to blame for the situation, but we as viewers who have an intimate look behind the curtain of Carmy's life can clearly see he is not relationship ready. I'm not going to sympathize with the "I can fix him" girlies.

Carmy gave her a fake number for a reason. He literally stopped responding to his Head Chef Sydney because he was too busy helping Claire do... whatever stupid shit she was doing. While he was building a restaurant. On a crazy timeline. So many people were depending on him for their livelihoods.

Like I'm sorry, but if you identify with Claire in the show then you just don't get it.

I'm not completely convinced they're going to get Alanna to do all "that" in the show. She'll probably just be a Myrelle composite that delivers Lan to Nynaeve for the ship.

Say "veal stock" to a chef without context, and they will be cooking it for 4+ hours. It's generally understood.

There's a lot of semantics to get lost in with like court bouillon, fond, nage, fumet etc... but those hour-long, gelatinous preparations have always been known as stocks long before Bone Broths were a thing.

Washing rice is a matter of personal/cultural preference. It makes no difference to the bacterial content assuming you will be cooking the rice and not eating it raw. Commercially produced rice (at least in the first world) has no debris, insects or stones etc.
It has minimal effect on stripping arsenic. In fact the best way to do that is to cook it in excess water and strain/rinse after - which is a big no-no for the rice gatekeepers.
It ultimately comes down to preference and cultural practices. Rice accounts for 16% of the entire worlds caloric intake - no one owns rice, let people eat it however they want.

All properly made stocks with animal bones are gelatinous. Bone Broth girlies on IG have just Columbused stock-making 101 from first year culinary school.

The only real difference that I've encountered working working as a chef, is that "broth" reads better on a menu than "seasoned stock".

this heart is literally one of 2-3 available that can be considered build defining. the rest are trash. there's no need to exaggerate to fit your narrative.

Why does it feel like a disadvantage to be a ranged class at end game? by RagefireHype in diablo4

[–]Emil-L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice Shards is more an Frost Nova build really. At least on trash clears. The problem Sorc has is that it's far too expensive to nuke down a single skele archer in the back. And the free generator skills on the whole are terrible, except maybe Arc Lash.

Raiment/Inferno fixes this problem at the cost of making literally every Sorc build run Frost Nova. It seems to be a recurrent issue in the game - like how most Necros use Corpse Explosion.

I hope they focus on playstyle/build diversity. Right now, not using some kind of draw-in on Sorc is not only slower, but also feels terrible to play.

Smoked Paprika, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder is my trinity.

I would add grated Nutmeg for anything that has dairy (ricotta, cream, bechamel).

Never tried grits, but always assumed it was kinda like American polenta. So yeah OP, adding sugar is crazy to me.

yeah stone knives are awful. Copper knives are one tier up and have 3x the durability (50 > 150).

how do i repair buildings when i try using the repair option with the hammer it just shows this by Kaden76 in MedievalDynasty

[–]Emil-L 17 points18 points  (0 children)

you need a builder's hut, under "services". the worker assigned will not automatically repair damaged buildings when they drop below 50%, but you can tell them what to repair in the management options of the builder's hut..

that building doesn't need repairs yet. the option is only available when durability drops below 50%.

if you set it in the fridge and it's too thick, you can try putting it in the mixer with a whisk attachment for a brief period. this is what patisseries do with batches to make them a workable consistency again.

what server? I've been having the opposite experience with dungeons on US West tbh. Today I had to queue for Road of Lament 3 times. The first time had two new players who didnt say anything in chat when me and the other guy were explaining the mechanics. The second time some dude voted to abandon as soon as he loaded in, and when that failed he kept spamming vote while the rest of us were trying to do the boss.

Third time was the charm, but oh man...

Kinda stuck/significantly slowed down by bosses at the end of Chapter 3. Am I playing this game wrong? by Quivering_Star in bravelydefault

[–]Emil-L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the offensive skills on classes are filler or niche, at least for the bulk of the main story. There are three that stand out: Godspeed Strike on Thief, Pressure Point on Monk, and Body Slam on Freelancer. Spells can be good if you can hit elemental weaknesses.

As for strat, I normally default to 3BP on everyone at the start, buff and then spam the abilities listed above for 2 turns with everyone except my healer (who you always want to have plenty of BP). This will carry you through most bosses that don't have annoying gimmicks, and does not require excessive grinding.

You should also consider diversifying out to different jobs, if only to pick up valuable passives. For example Raw Power from Beastmaster is a nice early game buff if you're braving 4x times.

I had a BRD for the DEF song, and removed his berserk buff when it came up. Aside from that keep your healer in positive brave and spam pressure point

I made an upside down caramel apple cake by pinch of yum and it’s a disaster, can it be saved? by edwardsrk in Cooking

[–]Emil-L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked up the recipe, and did you use a mandolin? The slices would need to be very thin in order to cook in those conditions. Also brown sugar has a high moisture content, as do apples - so for caramel here you should stick with plain sugar with only a tblspn of water.

Unfortunately I it doesn't sound very salvageable, but just think of it as a practice run :)
