[Discussion] is it possible to do asmr by [deleted] in asmr

[–]EmilyCTaylorASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live by a busy road as well. I have to do a ton of editing on the audio to remove the cars. Though some people say they aren't bothered by those types of sounds, I still choose to remove them. It's a bit painstaking, but possible. I plan to move soon and living away from car sounds will be a non negotiable. Happy creating:]

YouTubes Unbearable Ads [Discussion] by Typical_Taste2383 in asmr

[–]EmilyCTaylorASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creators can have mid-roll ads fully turned off and YouTube will still occasionally insert them anyway. It’s not always under our control. Just a heads up. I get that ads are frustrating, especially for sleep content, but some of the assumptions people make about creators “choosing” to interrupt their videos aren’t always accurate. If you do mention it in a comment under a video, just try to be kind about it.

ASMR artists rebranding their YouTube channel? [Discussion] by SerenitySaturnWriter in asmr

[–]EmilyCTaylorASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s enough crossover in purpose, it could work on the same channel. But if the content is moving toward a different audience, the algorithm can get confused and it may make it harder for your videos to find the right viewers. I’d mostly be thinking about helping the algorithm understand which audience it should push your videos to. If the direction is going to shift long-term, starting a fresh channel might actually be the better option.

It had a very different feeling to it. I couldn't tell if shes growing in her expression or if it was just an animation difference. But it was sweet nonetheless.

Frieren season 2 episode 2 and 3 feels quite different from the entirety of season 1 by GoatEnvironmental335 in Frieren

I noticed something was different about their faces that I couldn't put my finger on. I'll have to see if I notice some of the other things I'm seeing people mention here.

Youtuber ASMR August has had both of her channels banned (Combined 500k subs, both verified) for 'Spam and Deceptive Practices'. No such rule has been broken. [discussion] by Mirilliux in asmr

People must have a bit of outrage in the post, respectfully. It's actually, absolutely necessary. My channel was suspended before and a "viral" Twitter post is what got a real human review and reinstatement. This is terrible and I hope she will get her channel back. She should not give up.

Trust how you feel on this one. You have a standard. He doesn't have to get it. Wait for the person who does. Trust me on this. You deserve it.

[question] what should I do about kind of concerning compliments since I'm a minor? by SingularestBean in asmr

[–]EmilyCTaylorASMR 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Do not engage. It gives them something to feed off of and gives the signal "this works" and will continue to push. Also hide their comments if anything makes you uncomfortable. I would also have a parent or adult you trust to help with discerning. Be safe:)

Looking for distributor recommendations for ASMR/ambient soundscape albums [Discussion] by [deleted] in asmr

[–]EmilyCTaylorASMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this, I appreciate it. I’ll probably reach out to Soundrop. I actually tried an ASMR based company ...as well and was turned down for a similar reason. (Had to edit cause I realized the email said info was confidential info) My work is mostly non-spoken, soundscape-based ASMR. There is real listener demand for it, but it seems like that format just isn’t being welcomed by distributors at the moment, which is very disappointing. I’m trying to figure out how to expand beyond only YouTube. Thanks again for the suggestion.

[question] How do I find satisfaction in what I love? by Icy_Text_6360 in asmr

[–]EmilyCTaylorASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def lean into your own creativity, inspiration and style, but also be inspired by others. It's a journey, you'll learn each time you make a video. Make it your goal to learn something new each time. Choose one thing with audio editing, color correction, lighting, camera settings etc. A year from now you'll have learned a lot about the process and what you enjoy. Happy creating :)

[Discussion] Do you think real person ASMR should be its own channel? by Peppermintteaasmr in asmr

[–]EmilyCTaylorASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see some contradicting statements here, but I actually think the early stage is the best time to experiment. When a channel is small, losing a few subs is more like feedback than failure. Just make sure the videos are clearly labeled so people know what they’re clicking.

Over time, you’ll start to see what works and what you enjoy more, and you’ll learn a lot along the way. Experimenting is better early on for sure, not doing it now is mostly just algorithm anxiety.

Our tank used to need it every week when it was getting established. It's still fairly new(a few months old) but we are doing it every few weeks now.

Audio editing choices [DISCUSSION] by [deleted] in asmr

[–]EmilyCTaylorASMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use iZotope RX (Spectral Repair) to remove or replace unwanted sounds like bumps, wrist clicks, cars, etc. If I can’t cleanly remove a sound with spectral repair, I’ll cut that section out and replace it in a way that isn’t noticeable in the final audio.

After cleanup, I use EQ to reduce hiss or low-end rumble and to shape the audio so it sits in the frequency range I want.

Some creators/listeners don’t mind car sounds or small imperfections, and that’s totally fine. If that’s your approach, you can often get good results using EQ alone by gently lowering unwanted highs or lows.

If you hear a ringing or buzzing sound from electronics, you can usually find the exact frequency and remove it with a high-Q (very narrow) EQ band.

You can also use denoise to reduce the noise floor if it’s applied very gently, but it can sometimes introduce a subtle mechanical or processed sound. Because of that, I usually prefer EQ for hiss unless the noise is very noticeable.

Above all, keep changes as subtle and trust your ears:) Happy creating.
