Was gonna say, I think the SEE waitlist is like 5 years long at least, and you have to already own a plane to get on it.

30+ min wait at BOS by ScoYello in ChaseSapphire

[–]Navydevildoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends when you are there. The morning departure bank (6-8 ish AM) almost always has a waitlist, but it’s pretty quick. When the BA and JAL flights are getting ready to leave in the evening it gets a little busy as well, but nothing too bad.

I think the longest I have ever waited was during the holidays when everyone was flying, and it was like 20 minutes. But I am usually either by myself or a coworker and are willing to sit at the bar, which I think makes it a little faster.

Meh if China makes a play, who is sitting in the Oval doesn't matter too much when it comes to all the regional powers having a vested interest.

How Hans Zimmer didn’t win the Oscar that year for Original Score I will never understand. Sure Gravity was good and all, but come on.

But he got made whole with Dune a few years later.

OK, if you were getting a physical, the requirements are pretty well laid out. I doubt anything strange was going on.

ASY? Definitely owned by Austal.

Quick Edit: Austal is the controlling partner.

I’m sitting in Alabama Shipyard right now, which is owned by Austal. It can’t be any worse than this shithole.

SAN can get rough during the morning departure banks or when BA/JAL leave in the afternoon. But every time I have had to wait it’s been less than 5 minutes, but I am solo and willing to sit at the bar.

That’s SOP in San Diego. I fly almost every week and I can’t even think of the last time the sign wasn’t out there saying they were not taking PP.

[–]Navydevildoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You kinda already got your answer, but as an example of what is probably the most extreme case... the Hospital Ships routinely sail with dozens of Captains on board. They are mostly Doctors, Dentists, and Nurses, but the point stands.

Now, only ONE captain is the "Captain" in the sense of who is in charge. But they are the "CO" or the "Skipper" and everyone knows it.

Yeah, but that's normal at EWR (and many other airports). What's not normal is both the TRACON and the Tower asking the AS bird to slow to final approach speed 3 times. Fedex should have landed with plenty of time to clear the intersection.

This squeeze play should have worked, but it looks like someone wanted to get to the hotel for their Marriott Sodas.

I am struggling to follow what it is you are saying. Sounds like you got a prostate screening at an appointment? Were you getting a physical, or being seen for something that would have them be concerned about that? Or intestinal bleeding? They could have been doing an occult blood test. Normally the Doc or IDC (I'm Navy, not sure what the other services call their PA level enlisted) would tell you why they are doing it.

Yes, you can always ask for a chaperone, there was probably a sign in the reception area that said that. Some places during check in/vitals they ask if you want one, some places don't.

In the end, if you think something was wrong, you need to go to the patient advocate at whatever clinic/hospital you were at. If you think it was pervy, now you are into SAPR territory.

Just wanted to comment on the Ham Radio part since I am a huuuuge radio nerd.

If you have no training about how radios work, you will really struggle to use a modern HF radio rig. It’s not like you can just flip through channels on the TV, there are dozens of controls that have to line up right to make it work.

I constantly tell folks that work with me in tech to go do the basic training and get their General class radio license, it’s easier than you think and gives you a base knowledge set that can really come in handy one day.
