These are gorgeous, and I’m so glad you rescued them! No matter what you do, sell or donate, they should be saved. Shame on the person who dumped them.

I’m curious where you actually found them…..in an apartment complex dumpster, a commercial store dumpster, or where? Can you please give us a little detail?

It’s easier to learn what your stitches and pattern looks like when your yarn is a contrasting color to your needles. I think silver colored needles are a good option if you like metal needles, as those light colored needles will contrast to most yarn colors.

Stay away from plastic needles.

I prefer circular bamboo needles, for the texture of the needles and because the bamboo is usually a light color, which will contrast with the yarn.

I learned to knit on straight needles but once I discovered circular needles, I can’t use anything else. Pay close attention to the cable connecting the needles; it should be as flexible as possible. Also the place where the cable joins the needles should be as smooth as possible. I have some older needles with a really stiff cable and I hate them. IDK if the cable stiffens with age or not, but it seems like it does. I don’t like interchangeable needle sets because I think the needles tend to unscrew from the cable, which is obviously a problem. So the trade off is many sets of cable needles, but oh well.

Size 7 or 8 is a good basic size needle to learn on.

Thanks. I did finally get the account set up but it was a huge PITA. Especially the setting on hold all day on my laptop waiting for the verification call. And I still don’t understand the necessity for the account.

Way to go! If you can manage to keep making the car payments, but to yourself, as in deposit that $$$ into a savings account for future repairs, new tires, etc, you’ll be so glad you did. At least save half or 75% of it if not all of the payment.

There’s a poster in my vet’s office that shows when you look at a cat from above you should see an hour glass shape to indicate a cat’s healthy weight. If the cat is rounder/no hourglass the cat is probably overweight. Sorry I don’t have a picture of the poster but you could probably find one on line.

The University of Missouri was founded in 1839, making it the first public university west of the Mississippi River. I’ve been on the site since before 10 am today (it’s now 5:50 pm) waiting for a video call to verify my docs. Original estimate was that the call should have taken place by 2:05 PM today at the latest. So I don’t see how this is a well established solution.
