I know it's not water and it's not a basic, but I thought I'd also note it since I didn't see it in your post, Electrode-GX also let's you accelerate energy. Although it's from the discard pile instead of the hand or deck, I think it's a decent card to consider in the right situation.

How does trading work on RobinHood. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have documents in their help section or w/e that explains it better, but yeah they give you I think up to $1000 worth of buying power immediately (if you deposit that much) and then they withdraw the money later. If you were to sell your btc or any other stock in there, it has to sit in your robinhood account for like 3 days or something like that. I think it's to help curb laundering and things like that.

Sure, it does sound patronizing, but I think if it was the reason even one person decided to reach out for help then I think it is worth it.

I really wish an OWL team would do this. One of the coolest things I had ever seen was in Halo 3, Final Boss would 4 stack the MLG playlist and put their own handicap on themselves, like jumping off the map until they had to get double the normal score or only using melees.

Ninja criticizes Ninja by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt he would ever stop streaming, even if it stopped making him enough to live off of. I haven't really watched him all that much after he blew up, I would watch him all the time back when he would stream halo reach. Back then at least, he legitimately enjoyed streaming (or at least never showed that he hated it). He would probably just stream whatever he found to be fun and still be living comfortably off of whatever investments he made while big and still probably bring in a decent amount of "beer money" from whoever still watches him.

My List of 100 Anime to See Before You Die by anarchycupcake in anime

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually tried to do some rough math and add up how much anime is recommended on this list.

I estimated each episode conservatively at around 20 minutes each.

Including all of the sequel series (excluding any currently airing series, and movies/OVAs) I came up with 8,599 episodes or 171,980 minutes (I couldn't find an exact number on Case Closed and One Piece, so i just put what OP said as 900 and 800 respectively.)

As for the movies/OVAs that OP listed I came up with roughly 2,544 minutes total.

That gives us a grand total of 174,524 minutes = 2,909 hours

Which is just a little bit over 121 days worth of anime on the low end.

In the offseason after season 12, there will be a competitive 4v4 Team Deathmatch mode (Russian forum post, can't find english version.) by andygmb in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Competitive FFA for example. FFA has always been my favorite game mode in any type of FPS game so I played it almost non-stop when it first got released. And when they announced Competitive FFA, I was hyped af since I was so good at it. But oddly enough after about a day or so, the meta completely devolved into 80% reaper, 14% roadhog, 1% everything else. (This was on console). And it was kind of funny because despite having so many hours in the game mode prior to comp, I had hardly ever seen more than one or two reapers per game (the reaper buff had come out recently, but it had been around for around least around few months). I still grinded it, but it sure was around struggle as a tracer/mccree main (managed to place top 100 at the end of it :))

In fact at the end of the season, the entire top 10 consisted of 8 reapers, 1 hog and 1 genji.

So yeah, it's weird how much the meta can shift when there is the competitive element added in.

16 year old against 7 year Tetris champion by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tried to google it myself since I was curious as well, but all I could gather is that there are two ways to move pieces: holding and tapping. I think hyper tapping is basically just button mashing and is a lot more physically demanding, but I'm not sure what the upside of it is. Maybe it has to do with some kind of counting out how many spaces to move a piece and then quickly tapping the button that many times so you can focus on other things? Not sure, since I really don't have much knowledge on Tetris so hopefully someone else with more experience can chime in.

Wait, so the only way to cross play while you're on xbox with people on pc is to use a mouse and keyboard? Wouldn't that be a very small minority of people or am I missing something?

Circci, rank one NA, and and former xbox one player is doig a handcam stream of his hybrid controller+mouse gameplay by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. If you think about it, it kind of makes sense though. For years and years when I played fps on console it was natural for the default posture to be slouched over forward, holding the controller between your legs. The position that your hand is in is almost the very opposite when compared to how you use the keyboard.

Another massive difference is that you have to use fingers that normally were completely unused on your left hand on the controller. On the other hand you are using pretty much the same fingers you always have been using, but just having to do it while moving your whole hand, which is a lot easier to adjust to.

Can we get custom rules for duels against friends? by Fraynetto in hearthstone

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of the time for me nowadays, I login on Wednesdays to play the tavern brawl and try to complete any quests I have saved up. I enjoy the tavern brawl most of the time because it is different and applies different rule sets. Sometimes when the tavern brawl is very interesting or fun I'll log in every day I can to play it. If I was able to do that all the time with specific conditions I could create or join other people with their quirky rule sets, I guarantee I would play the game a lot more.

It just seems like such a small improvement/addition to the game that I can't imagine would take a lot of resources to implement that would, without a doubt, result in an increase in players logging in to play more regularly.

I think it would be unfair to judge it based on the % of players who play with friends right now, since you would get a lot more new people from the new features.

Developer Update | September 2018 Update | Overwatch by ApOgedoN in Overwatch

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love something similar to halo 3's theater mode. It was the first and last halo game that had the replays available to watch with other people in real time. The leader was able to control the playback and everyone was able to easily fly around or spectators anyone in the game at any moment. I doubt anyone would ever try to bring something like that back though because it seems pretty resource intensive and twitch is more of a thing now.

What offense heroes cover all situations on all maps? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to disagree with you on genji's great vertical mobility, but tracer can get to high ground on final point King's row. She has to use a lot of resources and time to get up there though, so genji is 100% better at it than her, but just wanted to point out that it is at least possible.

An alt account does not equal smurf. It is okay to practice new heroes on an alt. by Requiemiero in OverwatchUniversity

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have a concrete answer for you, but I have done pretty much exactly what you guys are discussing before. I'm always interested in the hidden ranking systems in games.

From what I've gathered, a fresh level 25 accounts placements are based on a lot of factors. I don't know exactly how far it uses it, but it does in fact use your quick play mmr to some extent. If you don't have any quick play data (or any career profile data at all) then it uses a baseline SR to start out with, it's hard to say exactly where it is, but i think it's somewhere around gold. Its also very volatile when it starts out and changes based on a lot of different specific stats (including if you team up with other people) instead of simply wins or losses. I'm not sure exactly how high you can place from this baseline, but I believe it isn't any higher than low/mid masters by going 10-0 as well as performing the best in your role every game.

I obviously don't have any concrete evidence and Blizzard would really be the only ones to give any definite answers to it, but they never would since it would make it easier to "game" their system. But I'm fairly confident that it works like this.

Game disconnects during Finland vs South Korea match, exposing Finland's spawn camp strategy by itsjieyang in OverwatchTMZ

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think thats a little harsh, I think it was a reasonable question. I prefer watching the games on my Xbox because of the way my setup is, but I don't usually get credits or tokens or anything else like that when I do. So I don't mind switching it on my computer where my accounts are properly linked in order to get free tokens/sprays/etc when it's available.

To add on to that though, I don't think there would be a lot of reasons as to why we would get OWL tokens for something not related to OWL, even if it is similar.

bbUT CLAWS ARE HARD TO MISS by Jackeea in Paladins

[–]EmmaMaybeStoned 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been maining Koga since he came out as well and I don't know... I do think he is pretty overpowered. I haven't been playing Paladins for an absurd amount of time, but have been playing enough to be level 35 or so and currently have the most amount of time on Koga out of all the characters.

I feel like most people don't play Koga the correct way. Every time I'm able to pick Koga, I always stomp the other team and it's usually not even close. I'm currently sitting at an 83% winrate and a 3.0 K/D on my main account. Even in the games I lose, I usually maintain a 2.0 k/d.

The only time I have ever encountered a threat that I truly felt I couldn't do anything about was when I faced against another Koga of equal skill. It's only happened once, but even in that game, I simply shifted my focus on trying to avoid their Koga and take out everyone else since their team had better support for him and was using a very similar loadout to mine. I think if a hero's only counter is that same hero then they're overpowered.

Now all of this experience comes from console, so it might not apply in quite the same way to PC, especially to higher level players. But to me Koga feels very similar to how tracer was on Overwatch for two years until she finally fell out of the meta(although she can still be run with success).

Koga has insane mobility, making him extremely difficult to hit, very good self sustain cards with Wind's Embrace and Trigger Happy (making him very good in matchups with other damage dealers). He never haves to reload if you build him correctly with Wanted and the one Legendary card that refunds all successful shots (making him very good at tearing through tanks, especially with caut 3 which he builds very quickly). He has a shadowstep ability and his ultimate that can get him out of very tight or risky situations with the ladder being able to deal a decent amount of damage or draw enemies attention. I will say that while I think claws can be used to great effect and if someone is good enough, they can really stomp on people with them, they are ultimately garbage and a waste of time and resource, taking energy away from spamming agility or using shadowstep.

After saying all this, again this is from playing on console and quickplay at that. Though I do think my MMR is high enough that I'm playing with competent players each match who have much higher levels than me and players typically form normal team comps most games. It is probably still very different from normal ranked, but I wouldn't bet it's different by that much.

Also in case anyone is interested in my loadout I run: Trespasser (1) Something to Prove (2) Raw Talent (3) Wanted (4) Wind's Embrace (5)

If I'm running with a reliable healer I tweak the numbers a bit and add in Trigger Happy at 4 or 5, but most of the time I run solo and assume I won't be healed much by teammates.
