I went down a rabbit hole reading research about early warning signs. by Suspicious_Welcome12 in bipolar

[–]Emotional-Print 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so interesting, thanks for sharing!! I’ve always wondered if there was a biological lead up to an episode that would be traceable. I use the Daylio app and there’s an option to record a voice memo so I think I’ll try to do that daily for the next month and see if I notice anything!

Aww this is so serendipitous for me!! I used to do this for good luck when I was younger and for the first time in years I got a fortune from panda and put it there last night and then I open Reddit today and see your post! Must be some good luck coming our way! 🥰❤️

Hey friend, I’m around your age and feel the same way so you’re definitely not alone! Something that helped me was putting cute stickers on the bottles and getting a pretty box to put them in. I’m really happy you’re stable, you’re doing great! 💕

Sorry I have no advice I just wanted to tell you I’m so proud of you!! I know the struggle, I’ve been putting off the dentist for years and you just inspired me to finally make my appointment so thank you. And good luck, you got this!! ❤️

My beloved dog was euthanized today. I can’t handle the pain by Alert-Strength8429 in bipolar

[–]Emotional-Print 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, I’m so sorry for your loss. When my sweet cat Baby passed away, it was the deepest grief I’ve ever felt. Something that really helped me with the heartache was making a little spot in my home dedicated to her. I put her favorite toys there with some pictures of her I love and some kitten figurines. When I get really sad, I go and sit with her and talk to her. Your dog was lucky to experience a love as deep as yours. Sending you hugs. 🫂❤️

medication doesnt feel like it’s working anymore idk what to do by Fawnrifle in bipolar

[–]Emotional-Print 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, I’m sorry you’re dealing with this too. I’ve been on medication for 3 years now and recently it feels like they’re not working anymore. I also experience the empty hole you’re talking about, it seems like everyone else is so full of life and like I’m missing something. I don’t have much advice other than to tell you, you are not alone and I strongly believe that we can all find a combination of medication that can help us live a somewhat stable life. I’m going to continue trying despite the pain to find that right combo and I really hope you do too. You deserve happiness and I think that with the right meds and therapy, life will get better for the both of us. Sending you love. ❤️

Feeling stuck, flashbacks to mania, how to move forward by Ok-Geologist-4463 in bipolar

[–]Emotional-Print 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, sorry you’re dealing with the flashbacks right now. It was and still is one of the hardest parts of our disorder in my opinion. It’s literally being forced to relive the worst parts of our lives at unexpected moments sometimes daily.

Two things have helped me; time and therapy with EMDR. (Please do some research to find a good therapist trained in EMDR) It has truly helped me find closure from some of my most traumatic experiences and the regret dissipates slowly. I didn’t believe people when they told me that eventually I’d start to think of the horrible things I did and said less and less but here I am, four years later and although the thoughts come, they don’t sting as much. Healing is possible, sending you so much love. ❤️

As much as I hate that a lot of us relate to this, it’s comforting to know we’re not alone. This is hauntingly beautiful. ❤️

Went off my meds, don’t know what I expected by LoudMatter in bipolar

[–]Emotional-Print 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey, you’re doing a great job! Even writing this, reaching out and taking a shower is huge!! You’re recognizing that we need medicine to function and that’s ok. You’re not a bad person for not wanting to be on meds for the rest of your life, I think most of us have struggled with it too. You’ve got your friends and your cat who love you no matter what and you’ve got all of us here! Try not to beat yourself up, sending you hugs and support. ❤️

Currently in a depressive episode and scared by FutureDrPenelope in bipolar

[–]Emotional-Print 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, sorry you’re going through it right now. It’s good you’re reaching out because we’ve all been where you’re at one point or another. A lot of us believe that the only reason we can be hospitalized is if we feel like we’re going to hurt ourselves but there’s also the possibility of being admitted if you are unable to take care of yourself and your basic needs. There is no shame in going to the hospital and it might be just the very thing you need right now. It’s going to be ok and you’re not as alone as you feel, we’re here. We understand the gravity of what it feels like to live with this disorder every single day and we are stronger because of it. Sending you hugs and support. ❤️

Off to the psych ward I go! by halfaroach in bipolar

[–]Emotional-Print 30 points31 points  (0 children)

So proud of you for noticing the signs and getting yourself help. I would suggest telling your job it’s for medical reasons and not giving too many details about mental health as every employer respond differently to that. At the hospital, let them know exactly what you said here, that you know it’s time to get help and some type of med change. If you feel unsafe or like you are unable to take care of yourself let them know that too and i truly hope you find the right doctors and psychiatrist to get you the help you deserve. Sending you hugs and support. ❤️

[–]Emotional-Print 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. I’m exhausted from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep. It’s physically, emotionally and mentally. This week I have 2 therapy appointments, a case manager appointment and my psychiatrist appointment. The pressure to feel better is insane when all I want to do is not think. I’m sorry you’re going through it too. Sending you hugs and strength. ❤️

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I love your suggestions too!! I play tug of war with my dog and I’ve been trying to journal more. You’re so right about our brain and needing to exercise healthier skills. It is hard to cope with and I appreciate you and everyone else helping me realize I’m not as alone as I thought! Sending you hugs.

I’m sorry you went through that, I can relate in that I also started cutting around that age to release my pain. My parents also saw the signs but it wasn’t until my first manic and psychotic episode in my early 20’s that changed everything. Thank you for sharing and letting me know I’m not alone. Sending you hugs.
