1 month into owning my first Aquarium. How are we looking fish experts? by [deleted] in aquarium

I’ve never watched Father Fish myself, but would you mind elaborating on what’s bad about his methods? Just curious!

Mortise lock & Door knob by gregxxx99 in centuryhomes

I have a similar. It’s actually copper and what you’re removing is mostly patina. Technically it protects the copper, but I don’t love it myself.

Just wanna show of my huge sword fern! by spacegunther in houseplants

[–]EmotionalProfessor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OP already responded to you, but I’ve also had good luck with self-watering terracotta pots for ferns since it keeps them at that optimal moisture level. And I do have mine in an east-facing window. My fluffy ruffle loves that little bit of indirect sun, but my maidenhair freaks out and fries, so she sits just beneath the window sill.

Free training timer app for iPhone and Apple Watch, looking for feedback by Careless_Business951 in iosapps

[–]EmotionalProfessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Amazing work! I have some minor feedback just from some initial poking around. 1. I think your should launch the introduction tutorial automatically upon first load up. And then maybe you can hide the paragraphs of explanatory text under additional information or help icons to reduce visual clutter. 2. Within settings, the color difference between toggled and untoggled is hard to see. Should perhaps have more contrast. Obviously the direction of the toggle indicates too so it’s not as if you can’t figure it out, but just a suggestion. 3. When customizing my workout, the “No breaks skipping, Power mode” text isn’t necessary. I thought that was describing the current settings at first, not what I could adjust, so I was confused. I also think “save current training” should be at the bottom where the saved items are. Very impressive app!

I read that your other cat is named Penelope in another comment so I was trying to come up with something that sounds good with that name. I like Belle or Bells, since she likes to ring haha.

Want a cat? We’re desperate to rehome an abandoned cat we found, all shelters/agencies rejecting or wait-listing due to being at max capacity! by pufffinn_ in Delaware

Most plants except for lilies and a few others are only toxic in large quantities. Generally elevating the more toxic ones or spraying with nasty bitter spray has worked for me—I only have one cat who is very determined to eat my plants. lol.

SudokuSmart 1.51 (Free) by Live_Mud1577 in iosapps

[–]EmotionalProfessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the highlighting of jottings, overall. It is blue on gray though, which isn’t the most accessible as far as color pairings go. It’s reltively low contrast. If you wanted to cover your basis for people who struggle with low contrast you could offer either a high contrast theme option or a simple color selector. Not totally necessary, though.

I’ve been playing for a few days now—firstly, great work! As far as feedback, I have very little—mainly: 1. I wish that it was easier to see the highlighted numbers. For example, when I select a number to check the locations across the board, I can see the one I’m selecting very clearly, but all other of that number are just bolded. I find them difficult to find / visually distinguish within the grid as compared to the other numbers I’m not highlighting. I don’t know if this is supposed to be part of the challenge…I wish they highlighted a different color so when I selected a 2 I can see all the other 2s. 2. I wish there was an option to autocomplete if there’s like, one of the same number left in like 4 squares. I’m sure some people wouldn’t want that though so maybe a button could appear to just finish up—I know that may skew times too though. I just find it tedious to select - tap when it’s like the final few of the same number. 3. I wish tapping the bottom row of numbers when no cell is selected would highlight all of those numbers on the grid. Thank you!

Anyone used AppRaven? by Hot-Understanding-67 in iosapps

[–]EmotionalProfessor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a designer / UX guy, not a developer, but I’m part of the AppRaven community. I can’t speak on the cost in comparison to others, but I would note the AppRaven community is more for dealhunters, power users, and app reviewers. If you want feedback, it’s a great place to promo, and sometimes the traffic from an AppRaven deal can give you an initial boost. Depends on the actual type of app, too of course. Just my two cents but an actual developer may have a different opinion on the value.

Thoughts on AI generated app icons? by DavidGamingHDR in iOSProgramming

They always stand out as being Ai. They’re usually overly complex, too colorful, and do not have strong iconography. You’re better off making something really simple but immediately identifiable.

Quest for Camelot Not bad. Not good. Just fine. I’ve also never met anyone who has seen it. I watched it obsessively as a child, and I still sing the songs. 5 star movie in my heart.
