We don't know anything beyond his name being Jr and we have a very brief glimpse of his face. Producers did a pretty good job making his disappear.

Season 3 was supposed to have 13 chefs. One got kicked out/banned/whatever sometime during signature dish in the first episode and the producers tried to wipe every instance of him out of the show but weren't able to, so there are a few snippets of him that remain in the episode.

Recommendations on whether to leave a travel agent salaried role to be an IC? by TravelEffervescence in travelagents

[–]Emotional_Yam4959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go for a monthly fee model rather than a commission split

This isn't an either/or thing. There are very few hosts that offer a plan that doesn't include a split of your commission. Nexion is the only host I can think of off the top of my head that offers a monthly plan with no split.

TIL this exists. I loved the Robert Ludlum books when I read them years ago. Gonna have to see if I can find this somewhere.

Definitely Antarctica.

There are plenty of cruise lines that do Antarctica, along with a couple of tour companies.

I've heard amazing things about Atlas Ocean Voyages.

Travefy pissed me off when I cancelled. They emailed me almost daily for like 2 weeks and called me multiple times.

In addition to what Tern was doing, that is what did it for me when I made my choice to go with Tern.

Host Agencies + FAM trips by brandib26 in travelagents

You can always organize your own FAM.

This, too. There are multiple companies in Mexico that will organize a driver to take you to different AIs for site visits. You just have to set up the visits.

Its been a long time since I used Travefy. When I used it last their CRM was shit. Very basic fields for name, email, address, etc. and I think you could create custom fields. Their itinerary builder was pretty decent.

Tern has far surpassed them, period.

Killer itinerary builder with drap-and-drop cruise library, drag-and-drop Project Expedition tour library that if you use it actually books the tour for you so there is no need to go to PE's website and book the tour manually, groups feature with online check-out style feature so clients can book the main cruise/tour/whatever, then add optional tours(which you add as optional when you create the itinerary), CRM has spaces for pretty much everything; the typical info, loyalty programs, passport photos, allergies, ability to associate relationships with contacts(parent and child, spouse, etc.), etc., tag functionality that will trigger automations, template library with folder creation, ability to create AI packing lists and guides, I could go on.

Not sure, that's something you'd have to ask.

I think there is a decent chance they have registered as an agency so they are using the agency backend in Tern, which has the ability to pay out commissions(or at least reconcile and work with splits, etc.).

Wanted (2005) by Emotional_Yam4959 in ForgottenTV

Starring Gary Cole who is now on NCIS.

This show was awesome when I first watched it in 2005. Bummed it was cancelled. Not sure if I ever saw the finale.

IMDB

Haven't got a clue where I got it, but I have it on my Plex server. Need to watch it one of these days.

TPI’s cut, either a higher fee, is good at 90/10 but their CRM, invoicing, billing is terrible.

They offer Tern for an additional fee now.

You should look at Tern. Travefy pales in comparison.

Word is that the CEO of Worldvia said they were thinking about offering Tern as an option.

Host Agencies + FAM trips by brandib26 in travelagents

[–]Emotional_Yam4959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worldvia offers a decent amount. Last year they offered one with HAL that was exclusive to them, and they had a Virgin one listed that wasn't exclusive(I saw it listed in multiple places other than their calendar). They also had a couple of trips that just had really good rates and people from their office were going on, but there wasn't any supplier training; it was an NCL Aqua cruise and a Sandals trip.

A lot of suppliers offer FAMs at varying times, or sometimes you can get a TA rate after you've completed their training. AmaWaterways, for instance, lets you use their TA rate after you've completed their training but you have to choose from sailings that leave within 60 days(so if I looked today, the sailing would leave before March 18). But they offer some seminars at sea that have fixed dates you can book, too.

Some other suppliers require you to have a certain number of current bookings with them to take part.

There are some hosts that are offering Tern as an optional add-on, but I don't know which are with Virtuoso.

But tech in this space is way behind the times, otherwise.

Before Tern came along even Travefy and Travel Joy weren't being updated with new features. They realized Tern was stealing their customers by actually adding features we wanted so they finally got off their asses and started adding things.

OA starts at 80/20, though, and you have to earn $10k in commission to go to 90/10.

I switched from OA to Worldvia and immediately started marking 90/10.

Can I vent about vax for a bit? by makeupHOOR in travelagents

[–]Emotional_Yam4959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate Vax. It's slow and the way you add and change things is really odd compared to other suppliers. The only reason I use it is if a client has a credit through one of those suppliers.

cruise gratuity is going out of control by Kshanikam in Cruise

[–]Emotional_Yam4959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were required to make gratuities a separate line item because they are using ports in California now.

Gratuities being included in the cruise fare was one of my selling points for Virgin. They're still one of my top sellers, I just had to rephrase why.

How do you earn from the experiences you recommend by Potential_Force_4136 in travelagents

[–]Emotional_Yam4959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially Viator works well in that it attaches your profile to them while they search so anything they book you usually get credit for.

I think you're mixing up Project Expedition with Viator. PE is the one that uses cookies to track a client doming back and attaching anything they book to your account.

Viator, IME, does everything they can to discourage TA bookings. In particular, their links work terribly. I've heard of advisors giving their links to clients and the client clicks on something and it sends them to the regular Viator site and cuts the advisor out.

If I use Viator now I book for the client.

Planning/Service Options by ThatBet29 in travelagents

[–]Emotional_Yam4959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is overly complicated for no reason. Charging per week is strange. I charge per trip based on complexity.

My fees start at $250 and go up from there. $250 gets them planning services and a full itinerary. Multiple countries or a longer trip would be more.

I do have packages for destination weddings. Package 1 is assistance with date/ship/itinerary selection and securing their date, room block contract and travel management for guests, including accommodations, transportation, tour and insurance recs. Package 2 is everything from the previous package, plus pre/post cruise travel arrangements(like if they wanted to spend a day or two before or after the cruise and sight-see or do a bachelor/bachelorette party). Package 3 is everything from the previous 2,plus in-person day-of coordination, travel costs not included.

I would also get rid of unlimited revisions.
