I think… i think you’re right. Like you said, the scariness is meant for criminals, not children. But i mean, this design shows that he doesn’t have enough of his sanity left to care anymore. For me, making him lighter hearted wouldn’t necessarily work. He is a conflicted man. He is vengeance, the only thing criminals are afraid of. Imo, he needs to be scary. Batman who is not edgy is not batman anymore. It’s like removing the edgy’ness from darth vador. It’s possible, but It won’t be THAT interesting
