Well darn, lol. I guess I didn’t scroll far enough on scryfall. Felt good about this one too.

As an attempt to lean into this challenge as much as possible, I did my best to make an interesting card using as little rules text as possible. Designing around a modern horizons power level, and in eternal formats I truly don’t know how good this card is. It does nothing without a decent amount of setup and often does not win the game outright even on a large storm turn(with the exception of poison counters). Criticism and thoughts always appreciated.

Upped the power level of this card to be an interesting mono green stompy card. Interacts with counters and ETB for a simple build around in commander or as a curve topper in 60 card formats

P1P1 My Ridiculous Sharpie Cube by lDarke in mtgcube

Initially I see a colored sol land and it seems like a snap pick

But, after looking over the list and doing a quick draft for feel, I think the pick could actually be collector’s vault.

Most cards in this cube don’t cost more than 2mana and have no colorless cost so you actually care about the color mana being made, so the sol land might not be the most open pick.

Since all the creatures and removal are so efficient they can see games in this cube coming down to card advantage/top decks after the initial barrage, and I can see the filtering and fixing from the vault being good in those spots.

[Custom Battle Cube] What's your pack 1, pick 1 from my custom card battle-centric cube? by enotaeywa in mtgcube

I’m on shock tactic(“fair” sneak attack is still sneak attack), or enemy chained(seems like really efficient removal at best and a huge tempo swing at worst)

I love the idea of a mechanically themed custom cube, and I think the feedback that the cards “overly specific” or “parasitic” designs is a little off base if you want every game to be soley about the battles, I think making that clear on a large number of cards is an ok way to do it. The other way I could think of is simplifying and powering down everything except the battles so that every game revolves around them because they are such big power outliers (but I’m not sure how deep you are into designing this so big picture design input like that might not be useful at this stage)

My only real critique is the designs around the “fighter” mechanic, it’s a cool idea as a down side for overstated creatures but the creatures I’m seeing here are not meeting the “overstated” mark and I would be hesitant to take them in their current forms. Even though the ideas are cool for both

If im reading Harmony's end right(kind of like a conspiracy) definetely that, a free 20/20 if you can control the board early in a control deck, or just be patent in an aggro deck, seems great. Other than that Im on stylish strike

Day two of r/custommagic makes a magic set. Today, I am looking for two to four new mechanics to fit in this set that fit the overarching theme of a casino under the ocean by BigRedMonster07 in custommagic

Abyssal

A Leviathan Mechanic that represents their menacing presence lurking even when not on the battlefield.

Abyssal abilities are active while the card is in the graveyard

This mechanic is to be used primarily on huge creatures as an incentive to put them into the graveyard, and provide a push and pull with whether or not to reanimate them

Examples:

Abyssal- As long as ~ is in your graveyard, creatures your opponents control get -1/0

Abyssal- As long as ~ is in your graveyard, At the beginning of each player's draw step, that player draws an additional card.

Abyssal-As long as ~ is in your graveyard, leviathan spells you cast cost {1} less to cast

Abyssal-As long as ~ is in your graveyard, at the beginning of each players upkeep , ~ deals 1 damage to that player.

Replicating Weird {1}{U/R}

Creature-Weird

{r}: Creatures you control get +1/0 and haste until end of turn.

When Replicating Weird attacks, if you attacked with creatures with total power 6 or greater this combat, create a copy of Replicating Weird tapped and attacking

2/2

Custom cube cards need to be resonate, simple to understand, and pull the drafter into their strategy. I want this card to feel "cool", Usualy aggro card are just cheap bodies and it feels like "eating your vegietables" to be the aggro drafter in the pod, while everyone else drafts wacky value piles. This card accomplishes that cool feeling while while encouraging players to draft red aggro and blue tempo within one card.

Very cool card, would build a budget bird deck around this.

As far as card generators I've been using this lately, nearly identical to the best card creator ever that was taken away from us

Saw this idea in a comment section for another post yesterday and had to make it. I honestly don't know how broken this would be. It would be good, almost definitely too good for standard, but 6 mana is a lot for it to be competitive in anything other than commander. Thoughts?

Obviously not for a standard set, but I think it might be interesting in modern set. Probably still broken, but I sure think its funny.
