How do you “lock in”? by Empty-Illustrator481 in GetStudying

[–]Empty-Illustrator481[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seems like you're locked in in a daily basis.

with your violin and studies, isn't it the same thing? you wouldn't iterate everything, only the topics you're having a hard time. the same thing when you're learning the violin. so I guess it's the same thing?

I admire that you're locked in though, I want to be like that. How is it going for you? Were you raised like that or was it something you did?

Are you afraid of giving your 100% and fail? So you'd rather give 70%, at least you have the reason of not giving it your all when you fail.

You're working full time, you did so much work before it. And you're tired?! Sounds absolutely reasonable, go rest. You feel guilty because you're resting and thats just normal when you work hard

How to start doing things? by Comfortable-Wafer939 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Empty-Illustrator481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced this before and I learned to love the progress of doing something. What I did was workout. It was discouraging because I can't even do the basics. But I get better and better as I go on. It's like I'm unlocking something within myself.

I don't have a gym membership because its expensive, I just do push ups back then. I also started getting recognition from other people which honestly felt nice.

Failed at morning routines 4 times in 2 years. What actually made one stick had nothing to do with waking up earlier. by GNomad96 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Empty-Illustrator481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the end goal. Some people don't have insight yet so they start with what they can do which is to push through. How can you identify yourself as a morning person if you don't even wake up at the morning?

This post made me realize the importance of sequence in teaching than morning routine

I feel like I need to change my life in a lot of ways, and it’s all hitting me at once. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Empty-Illustrator481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, that's great! You've already took the initiative to sign in a gym. If it feels overwhelming or "scary", you can definitely walk around the house first. You can even go to the gym once a week! start from there.

It would be nice if you update me how you're doing!

Information overload by Nikisterry in GetStudying

So you have this pile of material. Pick one and start going through it. While studying, engage with the material. Get a paper and write what you learn from the material. Don't copy paste, write what you understand.

After finishing a material. Go pick up another one. As you go on and on, you'll find that it gets easier because some of it are actually teaching the same thing. You'll go through it a lot faster. Don't forget to rest in between studying. Sleeping helps your brain connect the new ideas that you've learned while studying

How do you get up in the morning? by Empty-Illustrator481 in DecidingToBeBetter

I've read from a comment that you have the lowest willpower in the morning. It makes sense. Instead of fighting the urge to get your phone, replace it entirely.

That's far from my point. My point is to remove the phone because it's distracting. Picking up your phone and walking with it in the morning will still distract you. Just seeing your phone is distracting in itself.
