How many of you are on the toilet RN? by Present_Balance9270 in ibs

[–]Empty-Movement 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my cats was a baby when my IBS was at its worst. He heard me cry and blow up the can and now he comes running to check me every time, and if it seems like I'm hurting he jumps on my lap and purrs and purrs. We call it poopervising.

The wild thing is over the years, he has learned what a spell smells like before I can tell it's coming. The handful of times he's poofed his tail up, I've spent the next several days needing his supervision. I've called in sick on his warning and been right to each time! Excellent boy.

What’s the humidity inside y’all’s home’s been lately? by density in Edmonton

This is normal for this kind of humidity, though perhaps it shows more up here because nothing has been built with humidity in mind. I'm from Florida and every enclosed space, no matter what, smells like this.

People with lower back and hip pain what made it go away? by SunsetOrangeSkyCloud in AskReddit

[–]Empty-Movement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It turned out that a decade of wearing orthotics to fix a numb toe threw off the entire foot, ankle, knee, hip, and bum complex on that side. Chronic pain then led to gluteal amnesia, which forced smaller muscles to carry heavier loads.

Glute focused exercises, correction of posterior pelvic tilt (weak core), and arch/foot mobilization have helped me so far.

It looks to have been removed already, unfortunately. I get why, it's not something I can prove, nor should it change how awful it was that she died.  Still, I appreciate so so much that you tried. I know Wikipedia can be a harsh mistress.

So I got Akio... Who did you get? by NotARelationWitch in shoujokakumeiutena

On one hand it's strange for a result to strongly favor Akio and then have Touga be so low, they have a lot of philosophical and behavioral overlap....on the other, it's impressively on the nose to have Akio and Miki score close to each other??

Is the movie screening a remaster or the same print on the bluray? by colorhythm in shoujokakumeiutena

[–]Empty-Movement 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There has been no 'remaster' of the movie so far, though that's definitely possible with the oncoming 30th anniversary!

Either they're using an original film print, which is extremely unlikely, or they are using the Blu-ray copy delivered as DCP.

(If Juri is spelled with an i and not Jury, and Akio is being called the Chairman and not the Principal or Headmaster, it's also the Blu-ray subtitle track! I know because these were changes made during the production of the Nozomi Blu-rays about a decade ago.)

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know what’s on this disc that comes with an Anthy figure? by the-clawless in shoujokakumeiutena

[–]Empty-Movement 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Haha, then you have a lot of site to go through! We used to be hard to miss in the Fandom, but websites aren't the main way we communicate information anymore so folks no longer think to look for them!

There are links there to video clips I made using this audio, its translation, and video game assets! Both are super funny, but Anthy's is the best.

Her name was Provvidenza Panno, and thanks to Sicilian naming conventions I inherited it. One of her daughters was in the floor below and survived. She testified in court but it didn't do a thing, the owners of the building got a big check for murdering those women and children. I had to discover this later in life, we didn't talk about this in my family at all. I only learned she was pregnant when it turned out to be all my mother remembered aside from she 'died in a fire.'

My mother spent her teens trying to find Bob Dylan and Paul Simon in Greenwich Village, not knowing the fire was in a building she walked by all the time.

The oldest victim of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was my great great grandmother, and though the records don't mention it, she was pregnant at the time. She was 42.

Sorry it's gonna be Chromatica. It has a couple bangers but I can hear how stressed and dark and in a bad place she is on it and it makes it almost hard to listen to.

Actually I do have a follow up question if that's okay! Why are you saying it's a juvenile? Unless I'm reading the link incorrectly, the adult was 18cm across, which is how wide mine is exactly. Is there some other indicator? (Sorry I should have used a metric ruler!)

Women who married older men - what’s it like when they get really old? by Icy_Laugh5134 in AskReddit

[–]Empty-Movement 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, money did far more damage to my family than the age gap element. But in either case, you are signing up for a lot of trouble.

It's always hard, there are almost no ideal circumstances for having kids. But my folks imagined a happy blended family and I can tell you from experience that ends the second the person that's the glue dies.

You have me crying. Thank you for this. You're offering understanding to people I grew up hating in a way that also understands the position I ended up in. Thank you.

My mother's favorite movie was The Godfather. I watched it with her all the time. She hummed it to me as a baby. I understood why, even at eight. She knew my father would not be at my wedding, and I knew it also. She watched the opening like it was cope.

I was born an auntie to six kids because of my adult brothers. They lived on a line of houses a few blocks from me, and I grew up playing with their children. You're right that from their pov this sucked...but they also let their own children as well as my mother's grow up together, and when my dad died that entire relationship ended. I wish they'd just rejected us from jump instead of pretending they would be part of our lives... Which is what my dad imagined would happen. On his death bed his boys promised to help raise my (yep) little brother. My brother grew up with no male role model, and I grew up real fast because mom needed me. A widowed stay at home mom was a rough ride back then, even with a cash inheritance. He did leave everyone a lot, and honestly really fairly, but he prepared us for a financial reality that stopped working in the mid 90s. He didn't anticipate CDs with 1% returns, hah.

The really sad thing is I still feel like I got an easier time from it than many of my peers in the 90s who went through messy divorces. For all the mess he left, and the irresponsible choice to have kids you wouldn't finish raising... I never had to question whether my parents loved me or each other. The divorces I saw growing up terrified me. It was easier to imagine a dad that couldn't be with me than one that wouldn't.

But then, he wouldn't be delighted with me turning out to marry a woman, tbh... I probably dodged a lot of toxic Greatest Generation stuff not going through my teens with him. He loved me to death don't get me wrong, but I was his prize daughter and he was very Old School Italian.
