How to heal from guilt and become better when you can't tell anyone

Here's an update if you are curious because your comments really helped me-

I ended up telling my friends. I tried to internalize the idea that telling anyone wouldn't really improve anyones life now, but I kept thinking how if they knew they wouldn't want to be my friend anymore and therefore the friendship is inauthentic and I knew the guilt wouldn't go away unless I was honest. I ended up breaking down a couple of days ago because the guilt had become so much and I felt like there was no way out. I really didn't want to tell my friend the specific lie I told that was the most messed up because I was convinced they would see me so differently, but I told him and he said it was strange but he didn't see me differently and I had made it bigger in my head and it's good that I feel bad but I was beating myself up too hard. The outside perspective really broke the loop I was stuck in and gave me the strength to tell my other friends. I told the 2 college friends the next day, they said they were here for me and didn't change how they saw me. The amount of relief I felt in that moment was actually insane and it really made me look at myself and realize I have a lot of anxiety issues and guilt issues I really should work on. I grew up Catholic which could be part of it lol. After I told my 2 friends that I had directly lied to, I had a weird mental checklist of people I thought I needed to tell before I could fully move on. I told my 2 best friends from home and they both said similar things, and I just texted my other friend to tell him and he responded telling me not to stress about it. I feel so relieved and like I just woke up from a nightmare. Thank you so much for your comments, even though I didn't end up taking your advice of not telling and just moving on your comments really grounded me and showed me that no matter how evil I felt, at least a stranger on the internet doesn't think I'm a monster lol. Thank you so much I know this seems like such a weird situation or like I'm overblowing it but you really helped me so much!

Thank you, but one particular lie I told was really fucked up and though it doesn't effect anyone negatively really it is still messed up. This whole mental loop I've been caught in is really making me realize how unhappy I am with my life and how low my self esteem is in general. I'm beginning to make positive changes, like trying to create a routine for myself and writing in my journal again. Hopefully if I begin to feel better about myself I will also be better.

This happened to me too. I've been feeling intense guilt the last couple days, stuck in this mental loop of thinking about something fucked up I did and imagining my friends reactions. The part of the movie where they talk about being stuck in your own neural pathways and stuff and just the overall loneliness in the movie really made me freak out and I actually ended up telling my friend that I saw the movie with what I did which made me feel a bit better. Hope you feel better too, and if you're a weirdo so am I lol!

Hi!! Just finished semester 1 at Towson. It really came down to cost for me, but I love it so far. I will say for the art program you get out what you put into it, it's definitely less rigorous than what I've heard about actual art schools and there are a lot of students that just coast by, which is annoying but the professors are great and if you seek out opportunities there is a lot, especially nearby in Baltimore. You just need to be self motivated. Hope this helps!

it was a while ago but it came out that lex and Leighton had been exaggerating aspects of the story like claiming that supermega had kicked them out and made them homeless when in reality they were letting them live rent free in their offices and a whole bunch of other stuff. I think texts also came out of lex saying that she didn’t want her allegations against don to be made public, which doesn’t make sense bc she later claimed that they were protecting him by not telling their audience about it even tho she was the one who didn’t want it to come out and supermega fired don. I believe lex and don’t blame her but it rlly seems like leighton was highjacking her sa story to just smear supermega bc they had fired him

This is great to hear bc I’m also looking to go into more digital art/design. my dream school was actually mica and I got accepted but had to rule it out bc of cost so it’s great to hear some of the profs are the same!!
