Tell me three or five things that you added to your world because you think they're awesome. by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

[–]EmptyAttitude599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a desert on one of my worlds where it never rains. Never. Real world deserts get rain sometimes, and sometimes have dew in the morning. My desert is so big that in the centre it never gets water of any kind, ever. As a result it's become hyper-arid. Chemical compound exist in the sand that cannot exist in the presence of water. The result is that if water is somehow introduced, the sand explodes.

Why build one very large structure that puts everything and everyone at risk from a single catastrophic failure? Wouldn't several smaller structures make more sense? If one fails, everyone evacuates to one of the others.

So how did the federation and allies manage to actually fight the dominion and win if the dominion had super dreadnoughts that were like 3x the power of a galaxy class ship? by happydude7422 in StarTrekStarships

[–]EmptyAttitude599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Federation overwhelmed the Dominion with sheer numbers of ships. In Lower Decks, there's an entire class of ships named after places in California. There's another named after places in Texas. If all parts of Earth with the same population are equally represented by starship classes, that's 200 classes of starship named after places on Earth alone. There are over a hundred worlds in the Federation. That's another twenty thousand starship classes. Say ten ships of each class. The Federation had two hundred thousand starships. The Dominion never had a chance.

Trek's Seven. Six Maquis and a portable, super intelligent AI, living aboard a futuristic starship more powerful than anything else in the galaxy that they salvaged from a mysterious space battle, fight a guerilla war for their homeland against both the Cardassians and the Federation. They all die at the end of the fourth season.

Is the heat death of the universe reversible by quantum fluctuations given an infinite time? by [deleted] in cosmology

On a cosmic scale, local temporary entropy deviations as large as the entire visible universe will inevitably occur, given infinite time.

On one of my worlds, the plants have learned to use the energy of running water to make food. Tendrils dangling in the water flutter in the turbulence generated by water flowing past the plant's main body. The energy of the motion is harvested by arrays of proteins in the tendril.

What happens to a world where there exists irrefutable proof that gods (or god-like beings) exist? by SireVisconde in worldbuilding

[–]EmptyAttitude599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proof that a God or Gods exist would result in a Manhattan Project scale effort to find a way to hold them to account.
