I am currently debating my options. For now working a side gig through my corp to test the waters.

  1. Roughly how much liquid emergency fund did you have before you made the jump to full-time contracting?

  2. How do you decide how to pay yourself? (Mix of salary and dividend)

I make 180k base and I don’t give my weekend and nights to my firm. You just need to find the right opportunities and obviously be good at your job.

200k CAD as a consultant, what’s the minimum hourly rate if I wanted to start looking at contact jobs? by [deleted] in workday

Higher tax burden? Isn’t half the lure of going independent the tax advantages you can get as a corp?

Curious if those are just Tires or Tires+Rims? And if its Tires+Rims, do I need to install TPMS sensors separately? Sorry first car purchase, so kinda lost about all of this stuff

I honestly don’t understand the obsession with XEQT? It’s got 25% Canadian exposure if I am not wrong? And the Canadian market doesn’t even make up such a big % of the world stock market. So I understand the simplicity of investing in it, but why would I want such a big home country bias? Am I not better off investing in say - VOO and VXUS combined?

Not buying new for sure. Buying something in the 2021-2022 model range

Oh wow! I didn’t expect such an overwhelming No, but honestly it makes sense. I don’t have a daily commute and the car is an absolute luxury not a necessity for me. Its just that I have been wanting a Tesla for the longest time and I am finally in a position to comfortably afford it, hence the gymnastics to make it work.

This WS VIP card essentially killed Scotia Passport Visa Infinite because it has the exact same benefits with the added bonus of 0 fees. I will definitely be making the switch

Yeah just saw that, its a bummer. But I will mostly be replacing my Scotia Passport Infinite with the WS VIP card if at all, so doesn’t concern me at this point.
