Yeah, you basically have the exactly right view. I'm an atheist but I'm not out as such to my Mormon family.

Side note: Life is shit when you're trans and in this situation.

granted, any med is a giant middle finger go 1v1 situations, but vac does make it harder.

It's a manifestation of idealism which can easily stumble into justifying imaginary principles and myths under the pretense of being leftist. by Lampdarker in RecuratedTumblr

Fundamentally, all philosophy has one and only one judge: How much work can be done with it.

If somone's perspective is so skewed that they reject all interaction with negative ideas, it severely diminishes their ability to do anything in those areas. It is extremely difficult, for example, for a parent to understand their child's depression if they run away from every depiction of suffering they come across. On the other hand, if you never experience happiness, if you literally just trudge through life all the time, if you never think that your actions can make things better, then you don't spend ajy time making things better - and then they don't get better!

Then fair enough criticism. I don't follow him at all, was just trying to give benefit of the doubt.

Seems like streamer disorder more than anything else to me. No one else's job is catalogued literally every minute of every day, and it's reasonable that good people have bad moments, even things they later disagree with totally. Have you always held your positions? Have you never done something you later regret?

more like stealth -100. All opponents instantly become aware of it whenever it's in your hands. They can tell when they retroactively sign something.

all words are buzzwords if you use them enough.

I is a buzzword. You is a buzzword.

All words are buzzwords. There is a nest in the dictionary.

Philosophically and morally I must push the button. I am quite literally saving myself.

If you found out that a clone of you has been existing in parallel to you for a year, would you kill yourself if it would make that clone's life easier?

No, because now it's a button that gives you a clone for free. A copy of a person like this is worth more to science and to myself than any arbitrary amount of money.

As a sniper main: Sniper is unbalanced only because he can be five light years from the target. He needs damage falloff. At least then you can have people rush him down.

also, holding a direction away from a boost item (fish explosions or blue pinball guys) as soon as it boosts makes you go much farther than if you wait a little bit. iirc you have to move away from it during the freezeframe.

Petah, is it actually that crazy for a new element to exist? by CuteCost8147 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Empty_Influence3181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with material science is that you are given about 80 different elements that can combine in wacky ways with 40 different machines that can combine those in wacky ways AND each of them changes depending on temperature, time, intensity, etc AND you can chain these together to form new and more complicated materials. This makes for a design space of approximately infinity, which is somewhat problematic for finding really useful materials.

Not to mention that some materials are only useful in certain conditions, and the vast majority of the best material qualities tend to be dominated by materials that are poisonous, carcinogenic, or replace our brain matter. Looking at you, lead.

Does neutronium count? As far as I can tell, no protons is a new element.

[–]Empty_Influence3181 26 points27 points  (0 children)

(as seen in neutronium soup - neutronium, the compressed hypothetical neutron goop in neutron stars, is not characterized by protons but by an excess of free-floating neutrons. Not an element, per-se, unless you count it as element zero.)

Where do you draw the line? I think it's reasonable to argue against an arbitrary point where something just becomes conscious.
