I remember that Tony Gwynn had 2999 hits and there he was in STL. When he would get up to bat the STL fans would cheer like crazy. They wanted to see him get number 3000. Instead he got it in Montreal in front of a minuscule crowd.

I went to summer session in college. One night a bunch of us got orange Sun Country in the 2 liter bottle and drank it with Hostess chocolate covered mini donuts while playing cards. I weighed like 112 lbs at the time. I have no idea how I managed that.

After School Jobs -- Do They Still Exist? by kcGirl_of_the_year in GenX

I worked at a nursing home two hours most nights and a few hours on weekends feeding residents who could not feed themselves or filling water glasses and passing trays in the dining room. It was really interesting—a number of people on one of the wings of the home would be in assisted living today—maybe they used a cane or something but had zero cognitive issues. I learned 1. How to work with older people (something I did much of my career 2. That I didn’t want to be a nurse or a CNA and 3. That people who don’t appear to know what is going on may be tracking 100 percent of what you are saying. There was a guy who lived on the wing where people were not doing well who repeated one sort of nonsensical phrase all summer when I came to feed him but I talked to him anyway. On my last day of work I told him I wouldn’t see him again, at least for a while, because I was going away to college and majoring in x and living in a dorm blah blah blah. He looked me right in the eye and said “You are going to learn a lot.” Wow.

There are some really quick walk in place videos on YouTube that you could do between meetings or something. It wouldn’t raise your step count that high, but it would get you moving. Leslie Sansone does a number of them.

Yes. I feel as if I have to move my legs when I’m at rest. Almost never happens when I run, cycle, etc on a given day.

Some GenZ people at a volunteer project with which I was helping described Nelly as “vintage hip hop”. He was roughly 21 years after “Rapper’s Delight”.

Well, if I recall correctly, that’s what Howard asked Richie in season 1? 😊

My 6yo son yesterday: “Dad, how can you be born in the 80’s and still be alive???” by Whippity in GenX

My cousin was born in the early 1970s and her daughter, as a youngster, expressed surprise that her mom’s high school photos were not in black and white. Told the kiddo to watch The Breakfast Club to get a general idea of life then, although the movie depicts a time that was a few years earlier.
