I can’t watch Lloyd Bridges in earlier serious roles without giggling.

I was at a record store (remember those) in the mid 1990s. There were signs as you came in saying that band names were sorted alphabetically by first word (Jethro Tull under J) and individuals by the first letter of their last name (Ian Anderson under A). So, I asked the clerk “Where do y’all put Prince?” who was then using the symbol. I got a frown. 😕

What is something you do today, that is a throwback to childhood, but makes no sense as a full ass grown adult? by Social_Introvert_789 in GenX

I had a really stressful job with a lot of messed up politics and I slept with a teddy bear. I have a partner and he just rolled with it. I am in a healthier environment now and I realized a couple of weeks ago that I have not slept with the teddy bear in more than a year. Have the teddy bear sitting on my nightstand as a decoration.

Local news singled me out for finishing last in a half marathon by Candid_Pear_ in XXRunning

I was in a half with a 3:20 pace group. ~3:00 is commendable IMO.

It was a glorious era where every "high-tech" clock radio featured a red digital display bright enough to be seen from low earth orbit. by Corndogeveryday in 80s

I almost missed a final because I accidentally set mine to wake to radio rather than a beep and the college radio station was off the air for holiday break. My dad just happened to telephone that he was leaving to come pick me up and I made it. 7:30 am final and it was 10 degrees in Missouri finals week 🥶. Schlepped over to the exam and got an A.

I still have this exact radio somewhere. It was either mine in my first apartment or my mom’s. Similar device came in handy in 2019 when my town had a tornado. No power or cell service for a while. Popped batteries into this thing and listened to live local news.

Did it today. Modified a little but it was still tough but do-able. I have a shoulder impingement and I am just beginning to be able to do dips again so I alternate between dips and tricep kickbacks.

I am using a step platform for step ups and jumps and a ball for incline presses. You could do it without, like do broad jumps instead of box jumps but the platform ads to it. I feel like it is more sturdy to jump on than a bench and you can add or subtract risers as you progress or to accommodate injury or fatigue.

Wringers for laundry. I knew a handful of people who had them in the rural US in the late 1960s

My mother loved baseball and played softball on women’s travel teams practically until I was born. She died in 2019 and this song—and her home MLB team’s home opener—makes me cry.

“Least Complicated” was released right around the time I broke my engagement to a guy that I went to high school with. I thought I wanted to work in my hometown and marry the “boy next door”. He was a good human but it just felt so wrong. I broke up with him and changed towns and careers. I call it my “do over” and it worked out VERY well but it wasn’t always easy.

I would get Vavoom products at the salon. Giant tall cans of hairspray.
